“Reflecting on April: Condolences, Remembrance, and Support for Our Community“

As we bid farewell to April, a month marked by a tumultuous blend of sorrow and solemn remembrance, we pause to reflect on the tapestry of experiences that have woven together the fabric of our community.

From the heart-wrenching tragedy at Westfield Bondi Junction to the poignant observance of Anzac Remembrance and the joyous hustle and bustle of April School Holidays, each moment has left an indelible imprint on our collective consciousness.

In the wake of the devastating events at Westfield Bondi Junction, our hearts remain heavy with grief for those whose lives have been forever altered by senseless violence. To our beloved community, we extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support as we navigate this journey of healing together.

As we mourn the loss of innocence and grapple with the harsh realities of the world around us, it becomes increasingly clear how vital it is to engage the younger generation in the dialogue surrounding law, society, and the importance of empathy and understanding.

Now, more than ever, we must nurture and empower our youth, guiding them towards the path of righteousness and social responsibility. Through education, open communication, and leading by example, we can instill in them the values of compassion, respect, and integrity that are essential for building a safer, more harmonious society.

As we embark upon the month of May, let us carry forward the lessons learned from April's trials and tribulations. Let us honor the memory of those we have lost by forging a brighter future, one where love triumphs over hate, unity prevails over division, and the voices of our youth ring loud and clear in the pursuit of justice and peace.

Together, hand in hand, let us continue to support one another, uplift one another, and stand together as a beacon of hope in times of darkness. For in our unity lies our strength, and in our compassion lies our humanity.

With heartfelt condolences and unwavering solidarity,

Dr Meiya Forensics & Team ❤️‍🩹💝💖

🔊 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🔊
We've had to reschedule our April School Holiday Science Workshops to July 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th.

Why? We did not reach the quota of minimum number of 10 participants per day to run each day program.

In March, we had to leave our Erskineville premises, leading us to hire a venue for our programs, which increased our costs. This also meant needing extra team members for setup/pack-up and run activities, and additional cost for transportation of our equipment and materials to the venue. Despite this, we've kept our workshop prices fair.

To make our July program happen, we need your support to reach the quota, if not more.

We have reserved the Tote Building, Lower Ground Hall, 100 Joynton Avenue, Zetland NSW 2017, with parking easily available on surrounding streets or at East Village Shopping Centre. Help us secure this venue.

🙏 Book your child's or teen's spot now through EVENTBRITE!
https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/dr-meiya-67871386123
Enjoy 10% EARLYBIRD discount until April 30th.
Returning customers get an extra 20% off!
Email us at [email protected] for your exclusive loyalty discount code.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. We appreciate the understanding of the parents who’ve can make the rescheduled dates and we will be processing the refund in due course for parents who cannot.

Thank you for supporting our programs. Together, let's make this July unforgettable for your child’s and teen’s scientific investigations journey! 🚀🔬

“ECHO POINT MAN”
🔍✨ Diving back into the intriguing case of "Echo Point Man" - a male, Caucasian with indigenous traits, aged between 50-64 and estimated height between 172.6cm to 181.6cm (i.e. 5'8" to 5'11").

🧑 In 2007, we unveiled his Facial Reconstruction on Channel 9 News.

📰✨ Sky News coverage in 2020 of this case and the Facial Reconstruction sparked new leads, including a public sighting, potentially leading to his identification, which reignited my curiosity for further analysis.

🕵️‍♂️🔍 In August 2023, I conducted Craniofacial Superimposition to match his skull cast to photos of the assumed person, Charles Sudduth a US National who went missing in Sydney, Australia, in March 2004. The results are astonishing. Perhaps together with a DNA & Dental match will convince the current Police Investigators and Missing Persons Unit. So I'll let you be the judge! Let us know what you think.

“ECHO POINT MAN”
🌟 The face of Echo Point Man was reconstructed on one of the replicas of the restored skull and mandible, positioned in the Frankfort Horizontal Plane.

🕵️‍♂️ I started by strategically placing tissue thickness markers as the blueprint for the gross dimensions of the facial form. The tissue thickness data used were those of adult Australian Caucasian male I previously collected and established in my PhD thesis 2003.

📚 Following the “Manchester Method” with few modifications and using ceramic-like sculpting clay, I painstakingly rebuild all the craniofacial and neck musculatures, subcutaneous fat and skin, and shaped the facial features with close reference to the bony morphology. Detail of the left ear was copied from that of the left ear found intact on the remains.

🎨 My reconstructed bust was then brought to life through aesthetic and cosmetic finishing touches by a professional Hair and Makeup Artist.

“ECHO POINT MAN”
🔍 Careful removal of the decomposed soft tissues through blunt dissection revealed a skull with fractured cranium (vault) and fragmented facial bones, and a mandible (jawbone) in two pieces with small section missing.

🧩 Restoring the skull and mandible was like solving a 3D jigsaw puzzle. My talented and skilful assistant (Forensic Science Graduate) meticulously pieced all the bony fragments together with combination of glue, whilst I then remodelled the missing fragments using dental wax and plasticine to complete the restoration.

💀🔬 Two replicas of the restored skull and mandible were then created from epoxy resin with accuracy over 99.65%. One of the replicas to be used for the subsequent facial reconstruction and the other as the reference skull.

💡 Stay tuned as we dive deeper into this fascinating case!

“ECHO POINT MAN”
🌟 My journey began following instructions received in 2006 from the Deputy State Coroner in conjunction with the Blue Mountains Police.

💼 It was a team effort started with my post-mortem assessments of “Echo Point Man’s” remains at the formerly established Westmead Department of Forensic Medicine, assisted by two forensic science graduates.

🏞️ The body had been discovered with no identification by a bushwalker in 2004 at the base (150 to 200 m drop) of Echo Point lookout in Katoomba. Autopsy report by the attending Registrar-Pathologist stated the multiple injuries consistent with falling from a great height.

🕵️‍♂️ Since no dental and/or anthropological reports were provided with the autopsy report, I conducted osteological assessments to determine factors such as age, race, biological s*x, and more.

"ECHO POINT MAN"

🔍✨ Flashback to 2006: I embarked on an intriguing journey of reconstructing the face of an unidentified remains found at Echo Point in the Blue Mountains, for the NSW Coroner, Police and Missing Persons Unit.

🕵️‍♂️🔍 The forensic examination revealed fascinating details about the "Echo Point Man" - a male, Caucasian with indigenous traits, aged between 50-64 and estimated height between 172.6cm to 181.6cm (i.e. 5'8" to 5'11").

🧑🎨 Our reconstructed face unveiled in 2007 captured attention through Channel 9 News and made headlines!

📰✨ Fast forward to 2020: Sky News coverage sparked new leads, including a public sighting!
