Welcome back to kindy friends- term two is about to begin,
The holiday is over - let’s get moving people - no more time to sleep in!
We hope you have all enjoyed your break, your rest and your fun,
But Broadbeach Kindy’s doors will open tomorrow and there is so much to be done!

Term two is a wonderful time for busy little fingers,
And a term when mums and dads are welcome to linger.
Our families are invited to come on kindy roster,
Where you get to experience all the learning on offer.

Term two will be filled with lots of activities and exciting things to explore,
With all our children now well settled, comfortable and secure.
The foundations for their learning have been fully entrenched,
And now we expand and extend until their thirst is fully quenched.

We can’t wait to see you all, to hear all the news,
Over each and every one of you we will fully enthuse!
It is time to reconnect with your teachers and friends,
At Broadbeach Kindy - where the fun never ends!

Broadbeach Kindergarten will be CLOSED tomorrow - Monday March 10 - reopening date to be announced when it is deemed safe for our children, families and staff to return.

📣 Important message for parents, carers and students in South East Queensland.

☑️ Schools in Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba will reopen tomorrow.

🚫Schools in the Gold Coast will remain closed due to ongoing extreme weather.

Our team is working hard to reopen schools in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Ipswich, Logan and the Scenic Rim on a case-by-case basis this afternoon.

If you are unsure about your school go to closures.qld.edu.au for the most up to date information.

As Cyclone Alfred begins to make a real impact on the Gold Coast we hope all our families and friends are safe, secure and supported. We are thinking of each and every one of you and are grateful to you all for your support and understanding this week as we prepared our beach front kindergarten for the worst. We are confident that our 70 year old building will sustain anything nature throws at it - but if not we will keep you all informed as things develop over the weekend. We wanted to share with you this valuable resource to help your children understand and process what is happening around them. We prepared them as best we could this week but of course - without lived experience it is very difficult for them to understand the consequences of severe weather. See you all on the flip side!

Our beautiful "old" kindy mummy Samantha has a stunning new floral and fragrance business. Sam's daughter Maggie attended Broadbeach Kindergarten in 2023 and she and her family were a joyful asset to our community kindergarten. I stumbled across her pop up stall at Stockland in Burleigh this morning and her stunning display caught my eye. Please follow Sam on instagram to find out where she will "pop" up next!

Our third big week of kindy and there is so much learning taking place. Remember that not all learning is tangible and not all children learn the same things at the same time.

The first few weeks of kindy are all about children separating confidently from their caregivers, learning the names of their peers and teachers and becoming more independent in their daily tasks. We are learning to use kind words when speaking to others. We are learning to help where we can - especially at pack away time!

We are learning to take turns which can be very hard when we are not used to being in such a big group. We are learning to listen to what others have to say - including our teachers. We are learning to remember our manners with both our peers and teachers. We are learning to think about the feelings of others and remembering that there are lots of other people who are needing the attention of their teachers too!

No wonder everyone is feeling very tired at the end of a busy and very happy day. Well done Ocean Warrior friends - you have done a magnificent job today.

Kathryne, Libby and Danie have worked together as a teaching team at Broadbeach Kindergarten for almost 30 years and are the only original teaching team left amongst community kindergartens on the Gold Coast. We have shared personal trauma and heartbreak. We have celebrated children achieving goals and milestones. We have learnt from each other and always offered support and friendship. We never sweat the small stuff. We laugh often. We don’t always agree with each other but we always respect each other’s opinions and ideas. We share the same philosophies and ideals and believe we can make a difference in children’s lives. We love being crazy and silly. We appreciate each other’s strengths and encourage each other when times are hard. Broadbeach Kindergarten is our passion and the children and the families we welcome each year are our reason for getting out of bed each and every day. We are blessed to have each other and we never take our relationship - both personally and professionally - for granted. We look forward to welcoming our 2025 cohort to kindergarten tomorrow and sharing with our new families and friends what it means to belong, to be part of a community and to feel the magic of our little blue kindy by the beach 💜💜💜

Welcome to our new families and friends for 2025.

We are so looking forward to seeing you all again this week as we begin our journey together. We have so many wonderful things to share with you, new friends to make and old ones to reconnect with.

We promise to challenge, excite and enthuse your children. We promise to love them, care for them, nurture them and keep them safe. As mothers we remember well the feelings of trepidation leaving our children for the very first time in the care of others - but we assure you that we are experienced, professional and dedicated. We will do all we can to ensure the transition from home to kindy is joyful and happy for all.

Remember - if you have any concerns at all over the first few weeks or you are unsure as to how your child is settling - come and have a chat to any one of us - we are here to help, advise and support. Thank you for entrusting your children into our care and becoming part of our family.

Now - let the magic of Broadbeach Kindergarten begin!

Let’s all tread carefully as we head in to 2025!

Dear families

Well the dust has settled, the tears have dried - almost! - the kindy is clean and our year is done! The time has come to say our final farewells to families who will now always be part of our extended Broadbeach Kindergarten family.

We began 2024 with 22 new little ones walking into our kindy for the very first time. Some were excited and keen to get started and others were a little unsure about this unfamiliar place called "kindy". Some children settled easily into our kindy routine - others found it a little difficult. Some children shed tears and found it hard to separate from mum and dad, others took separation in their stride. Some children made new friends easily and some children took a little longer to build relationships with their peers. There were so many new things for these children to understand, to learn and to participate in. New routines, new rules, new adults in their lives and for many - being part of a large group was a new and daunting experience.

As we reflect on all we achieved throughout the year we are sure you will agree that we have all shared in moments and occasions that will live on as memories for a very long time. Each and every one of us will hold something in their hearts that meant something important and long lasting. For us as teaching staff - we will never forget the joy your children have given us, the feeling when we truly "get" your child and love them for who they are - just the way they are! We will never forget that feeling when we see a child let go of their uncertainty and begin to embrace the joy of kindergarten. Each of us will hold your children in our hearts and we will never forget them.

We thank you for sharing your children with us in 2024. We thank you for choosing Broadbeach Kindergarten as the centre for your child's pre-prep year. We thank you for your support, your respect, your friendship and your community spirit. We thank you for truly believing that a play based community kindergarten was the right choice for your child before they attend school.

Thank you for your thoughtful, wonderful and very special gifts and the shopping vouchers you gave to each of us at the end of your child's kindy year. Although completely unexpected, each and every gift is treasured and the spirit in which they are given is genuinely appreciated. The heartfelt cards - many with the children's words - mean the world to us and have all gone straight to the "treasure boxes!" To see the children's faces when they bring something special for their teachers is an image we will never forget.

Thank you to our incredible and dedicated executive committee. Kate Goodman, Jennie Lekich, Susan Millar-East and David Chantrill. Without the continued effort put in by these people community kindergartens such as ours would no longer exist. By ensuring the administrative and management tasks are taken care of it frees staff up to do what they do best - educate, nurture and care for children and their families!

We would like to wish each and every one of you the most wondrous of Christmases, the most sensational of New Years and the most spectacular 2025! We urge you to keep in touch with each other, help those of your new friends who may be in need of some extra love and support or are away from family over the holiday period.

Don't forget to keep in touch with us - we look forward to hearing your news, sharing your first days of school, seeing photos and watching your children grow. Please remember - if ever you need us for whatever reason - you know where to find us!!

One of our favourite days of the year! Celebrating another successful, happy, rewarding, busy and exciting year with our Ocean Warrior friends at Seaworld. Thank you to all our friends and families for making your child's last day of the year one filled with wonderment, magic, love, memories and connection. Thank you Ocean Warriors for always bringing love and laughter into our kindergarten classroom and for making your teachers so very proud of you. We will never forget you. Remember - we never say "goodbye" we just say "see you soon."
