NASC Australia National Archaeology Student Conference 2026 30th of September - 2nd of October
https://linktr.ee/NASCaustralia

NASC is a conference for students, run by students! From 1998 to 2004, the National Archaeology Student Conference (NASC) aimed to provide a supportive forum for undergraduate, Honours and post-graduate students, and those who have recently completed their degrees, to present and discuss their ideas and research. The scope of NASC encompassed all fields of archaeological inquiry, irrespective of geographical focus. Participation was open to students at Australian and overseas universities.

Already halfway through NASC 2026!

Two of our Keynote speakers, Dr. Delyna Baxter and Dr. Malcolm Connolly, had a marvellous presentation on navigating Australian archaeology and heritage practice.

Throughout the day, we had two presentation sessions, as well as an incredible poster session.

We finished with a wonderful group of AACAI panellists hosting a Q&A. Our thanks to Robyn Jenkins, Shoshanna Grounds and Jacqueline Matthews for answering all our unanswered questions.

Thank you to all our speakers, and see you all tomorrow for the last day!

Welcome to NASC 2026!

Yesterday, we had a lovely day of pre-conference events and were thrilled to meet so many of you at our tours and at the Welcome Reception.

We began the day with a behind the scenes tour of Queensland Museum. It was amazing to have the chance to look at ancient objects and some of the storage for the many artefacts that the museum takes care of. Thank you so much to the museum for the opportunity to better understand how the collection is managed.

In the afternoon, we took a walking tour with the Australian Heritage Specialists along Brisbane’s historic wharf precinct. It was a great insight into Brisbane’s past, as well as into different methods by which development can respect historic sites. The team were incredibly knowledgeable, and we’ll all be on the lookout for Brisbane tuff. Thank you to AHS for leading the tour.

In the evening, we had our welcome reception at the Ship Inn. It was wonderful to chat to so many other students and sponsors about all our archaeological interests (over some delicious food).

Looking forward to seeing everyone for the rest of the conference!
