Taiwanese people are kind and generous. This makes the culture super welcoming to travellers. I am going to recommend a few hotel/hostel that I stayed in. All of them are super reasonable in price.. $50 to $100 AUD per night.

is a small village in the mountains located an hour drive from Taipei. It's easily accessible by train and bus. This place is made famous largely due to its similarity to the village in Spirited Away(see pic), arguably Hayao Miyazaki’s most popular movie.

The old street hosts a large variety of street food, the Taro Ball Soup is a must try. For a culture experience, try some Taiwanese tea at a tea house.

Maokong is a 60 minute bus ride from Taipei City. A gandola ride typically takes 20 to 30 minutes, there is also the option of glass floor carriage, but the queue is longer. There are plenty of choices for tea, coffee, and desserts with beautiful views. You can also enjoy great local food at a very good price. The set menu featured in this post cost us $1000 NT, which is $50 AUD.

There are some easy walk trails and you get to see tea fields in the way.



從台北車站坐公車一個鐘頭就能到纜車站。 找一家喜歡的店泡個茶和吃個甜點。。天氣好時候走個步道。猫空壺口穴吊橋。。有 ‘5公尺’ 這麼長。。大概是全世界最小的吊橋 😅

Then walked to through some Alley ways through to Roman St. Parkland.

20 minutes walk.. great food and view. Day or night !

15 minutes walk and great seafood !
