On the 27th of July 2022, the students of our General English program at the Queensland Academy of Technology arrived at the beautiful and secluded home of many Australian animals at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary!

Venturing from our school campus located in the heart of Brisbane city, we spent the day holding and taking photos with koalas, feeding the free-roaming kangaroos and watching entertaining and educational animal shows. There was also a rare opportunity for the students to pat a domesticated dingo that wandered around the park with its trainer.

Despite the cold winter weather, the sunny skies warmed the day so that we could enjoy this marvelous experience to the fullest!

Despite the challenges faced by international students in 2021, many chose to study in the General English program at the Queensland Academy of Technology in the heart of Brisbane city.

Home may be thousands of kilometres away, yet students created a new home to support each other everyday, enriching the atmosphere of cultural diversity within the classroom. Overcoming the hardships of living away from home countries, students interacted and socialised with each other, creating everlasting bonds of friendships and lifelong memories.

The General English program is not just a place of language learning, but also a hub of social interaction, cultural experiences and will always strive to be a 'home away from home' for any and all.

For the General English department at the Queensland Academy of Technology, 2021 was a rich year for study and meeting and making new friends from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Students conversed with others either in-class or online and despite the difficulties the 2021 presented for all of them, they were able to rise to each occasion and create many lasting memories. With barbecues when the weather was kind, numerous classroom parties, and visits to different locations around Brisbane, it was thanks to all the wonderful students that made each day in class shine.
