Painting Pasta Necklaces! 🎨✨

Miss 2 was so excited to remind me about our pasta painting plans! She chose orange, pink, and purple, showing great independence in squeezing her own paint. Mr.1 was inspired by her enthusiasm, picked orange, pink, and blue—staying focused as he tackled the tricky rolling pasta pieces!

Just turned Mr.1 explored colour mixing with blue and yellow, discovering the magic of green! At first, he was hesitant, but soon, he was fully immersed in the sensory fun. A perfect blend of creativity, fine motor skills, and early learning!

Playdough Magic! ✨

The children had a blast exploring colours and textures with playdough! They got creative with buttons, shiny sequins, and gold straw cuttings, bringing their unique designs to life.

🎨 Miss.2 and Mr.1 showed amazing focus and fine motor skills as they carefully placed each piece—pure creativity in action!

Miss 3 was all about painting today! 🎨 She confidently got the paints out and created on her own, proudly stating, “I’m a big girl now, three! That makes me as big as my sisters” 🥰. She painted a beautiful rainbow with all the colours and a purple cow—her creativity was shining bright!

This independent approach to painting is amazing for Miss 3’s development! 🌟 It boosts her autonomy, confidence, and self-esteem. Through painting, she expresses her thoughts and ideas, practices decision-making, and strengthens her fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Plus, sharing her creations shows her growing language skills and ability to connect her art to real-world concepts. Keep creating, Miss 3! 🌈🖌️

Since exploring the trampoline last Friday, Mr. 1 has been eager to get back onto its bouncy surface! He spent time running around on the uneven surface, giggling loudly and having the best time. Although he wasn’t using the trampoline for jumping, this type of play is perfect for a little one new to running and walking. 🏃‍♂️

Walking and running on the trampoline helps Mr. 1 strengthen his gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and muscle strength. It also challenges his stability and proprioception—his awareness of where his body is in space—key skills for safe and confident movement. By navigating the bouncy surface, he’s also enhancing his spatial awareness and learning to adapt his movements, which are important milestones in early walking development. Keep exploring, Mr. 1! 💪✨

At story time, the librarian read some of our favourite books like “Dear Zoo” and “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.” We also sang two of our favourite songs, "Di**le Dangle Scarecrow" and "If You’re Happy and You Know It," which helped us get all our wiggles out so we could listen with our best listening ears to the stories. Even our youngest member of Eatons Hill Family Day Care felt more comfortable at the library this week and ventured off to sit right in front of the librarian to get a better look at one of her stories!

After our visit to the local library, Mr. 5 chose a series of books from the "School of Monsters" collection to bring back to Eatons Hill Family Day Care. Once back, he carefully examined all the pages of one of his books and noticed that one of the monsters was named the same as Miss 4 which he pointed out as she was sitting next to him! At the end of these books, there was a step-by-step guide on how to draw the main monster. Mr. 5 took one of the books up to the table and followed the directions to draw Luna Boo, showcasing his attention to detail and following instructions, a great skill to work on as he will need these skills at school next year!

This morning, both Miss 3 and Mr 3 enjoyed threading pasta onto the tree branches. Once they had placed the perfect amount of pasta tubes on their trees, they turned on the tree’s twinkling lights and admired their creations. Threading activities are excellent for children's development as they enhance fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration. By getting to turn on the twinkle lights with the press of a button, the children also explored cause and effect, seeing the immediate result of their actions.

Mr.1 discovered the new painting wall today and was fascinated by experimenting with the colour black. He used broad, sweeping motions and delicate strokes to explore different effects. This process helped him develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while enjoying the sensory experience.

Today marked a special milestone as the two youngest members of our community met each other for the first time (before today, they came on different days). With only about five weeks between them in age, their budding friendship holds promise for a beautiful bond to blossom over time. While they initially seemed unaware of each other's presence this morning, their curiosity piqued after their naps, leading to heartwarming interactions of pointing, reaching for one another! It was clear there was a mutual fascination.
Their shared exploration of the books "That's Not My" by Fiona Watt provided a precious moment of connection as they sat facing each other, engrossed in the colourful sensory pages.
