🌟🔭 A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS – YOU’RE INVITED! 🔭🌟

We are incredibly excited to welcome a PhD-qualified stargazer to Brinkworth Primary School for a very special community stargazing evening on Thursday, October 22nd! 🌌✨

We’ll begin inside the school where our guest will help us explore and understand some fascinating elements of our universe – before heading out onto the oval for a guided tour of the night sky and stars. ⭐🌙

This is a unique opportunity that we are thrilled to offer to our community completely FREE of charge! ❤️

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Everyone is welcome! Bring the family, rug or camp chairs and your sense of wonder.

🏊‍♀️☀️ The weather is warming up, which can only mean one thing… POOL SEASON IS NEARLY HERE! ☀️🏊‍♂️

Andrew has been busy getting the pool ready, and we’re excited to get the 2026/2027 pool season underway! 💦

🔑 Pool keys will remain the same price this year.

🌧️📚🥣 A wet and chilly day was the perfect day for our annual Community Soup Day & Book Week celebration! 📚🥣

We were so excited to welcome so many wonderful guests to our school for a day full of stories, laughter, reading and community spirit. ❤️

We kicked things off with a fabulous Book Week Parade, featuring our Occasional Care children, preschoolers and primary students — and WOW, the costumes were fantastic! 👑🦸‍♀️🐉📖

Then our brave teachers took to the stage for a hilarious performance of Edwina and Edward the Emu! 🦤😂 What a laugh — we may have discovered some hidden acting talents!

Next, our students found an adult to share a book with and read aloud together. 📚❤️ It was wonderful to see the confidence our students showed as they read with such fluency, expression and confidence.

After reading, everyone got creative and contributed to our collaborative “Symphony of Stories” artwork, adding music notes to create a piece that represents how every person contributes to our school community. 🎵🎶

And of course, we couldn't finish Book Week without a little “Guess Whose Favourite Book?” We had lots of fun trying to match our favourite books with the mystery readers! 📚🔍

Finally, it was time for the main event… 8 delicious varieties of soup! 🥣🥖 The perfect antidote to a cold, wet winter's day and an even better excuse to gather together as a community.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, brought a pot of soup, joined in the activities, read with our students and helped make the day so special.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community around us. ❤️

We can't wait to do it all again next year!

🌟 WOW! What a busy week of learning! 🌟

It has been a huge week at Brinkworth Primary and Early Childhood Centre, filled with Science Week, local experts, hands-on learning and plenty of opportunities to learn beyond the classroom! 🌿🔬📸

🦉 Habitats & Nocturnal Animals
We were fortunate to welcome the team from National Parks and Wildlife to explore our local habitat. We learnt about where different animals live, how they use their environment and what we can do to help protect them. The highlight was definitely the camera that could be inserted into tiny spaces to see what was hiding inside… and the BIG spider was certainly a surprise! 🕷️😱

🌈 Science Week – Learning from Each Other
Our Upper Primary students joined with Preschool to become the experts! They shared their knowledge about our colour-blending experiment, explaining how the towel absorbs the water and how the colours travel and blend together. We had some excellent little teachers and some wonderful outcomes! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

📸 Developing Our Photography Skills
We were also joined by a local photography expert who helped us hone our photography skills. After working hard on our photography and taking photos during our visit to Burra last week, we were excited to share our work, receive feedback and learn new ways to improve.

We then headed outside to explore our own school yard and put our new tips into practice. The big takeaway?

“If you like the photo, it’s a good photo!” ❤️📸

We think we are pretty fortunate to be able to tap into so many local experts and provide our students with these amazing learning opportunities.

🎙️💻 Becoming Digital Learners! 🌟

As part of our Site Learning Plan, we have had a real focus on developing our skills as digital learners. 📱💡

For this podcast, our students were given photo collages showcasing some of the important events and learning experiences we have completed over the past few weeks. 📸✨ Together, they brainstormed what they had learned and then worked alongside their teachers to create a simple script. 📝🤝

Then came the fun part… recording! 🎧🎙️ Students experimented with different expressions and tones in their voices to create an engaging and entertaining podcast. 😄👏

We are so proud of the way our learners are building their confidence, creativity and digital skills. 🌱💻
