Mr. Dean. What a ! As a trained teacher and sports coach of many different varieties I am a little underwhelmed by the Sport Australia ecosystem and not pointing the finger at anyone but me and my own lack of drive when compared to Mr. Dean. Certainly us teacher's in were hammered with Arnold's "In, about, and, through" the 'physical' (joy of movement). But read about Mr. Dean here who lives it in spades... I'm sure he would not get a look in as an executive in any of our national governing sport's boards though. Yet, I am seeing and feeling true here. What can we learn about true in the lead-up to from this vibrant learning community??? Gunny

ABSTRACT - QLD HPE teachers often scratch their heads hearing interstate peers talking about how ‘rough’ rugby (league or union) is. “Have you not really considered contact in AFL?” is often my response. The reality is many invasion sports like netball, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse to name a few, incorporate combat spatial and postural positioning skills. As HPE teachers we know that all sports can be incorporated safely with full planning and consideration. Thus, be brave and use the AC: HPE curriculum to shape your learners’ contact confidence and competence with help from this practical session focusing on scaffolded athletic combat skills
