Founded in 1882, Brighton Grammar School is an Anglican independent school for boys passionate about developing, inspiring and guiding each boy on his journey to manhood. This is a mid-sized school of approximately 1400, catering for boys from ELC to Year 12. The school is situated in the Bayside suburb of Brighton, just 15 minutes south of the C*D. Over five days, with 91 teams across more than 35 countries, it’s been the biggest competition ever, and finally, all the months of hard work has come to an end.

Congratulations to team Lynx Racing from Saudi Arabia who are the 2026 World Champions.

Ad Astra finished 7th overall, and 1st placed Australian team! An amazing accomplishment which they should be very proud of.

Every student who has been a part of STEM Racing and F1 in Schools, at BGS as well the fellow 830+ participants in Singapore, understands the dedication, sacrifices and sheer amount of work required to get to the World Finals. This year, we watched from afar in absolute awe at the incredible level of talent on display from these high school students, and so are even prouder of Gianlucca, Bill, Reggie, Marco, Jack and Thomas. Well done.

We also congratulate our fellow Australian teams Fusion (9th), Novaris (14th) and Fastest car award winners, Genesis (15th), Typhoon (23rd) and Pit display award winners, whose combined scores with Ad Astra meant Australia finished 2nd overall.

Well done to Isaac (Year 8) and Year 7s Raymond, Hugo and Ryan who performed as a String Quartet at the Mariana 10-Year Anniversary event at Melbourne Recital Centre (MRC). Their performance was warmly received by guests and the MRC team, with MRC CEO Sandra Willis and event organisers praising the boys’ musicianship and professionalism.

An additional congratulations to Isaac who also successfully passed his Licentiate of Music, Australia (LMusA) Violin examination, a prestigious diploma qualification above AMusA, achieved by approximately 10% of candidates, recognising a very high level of technical proficiency, musical maturity and performance ability. For most of us Term 4 has only begun, but for many in the School, it marks the beginning of the end. For Year 12s who commenced in the Junior School, the Valedictory activities start with a visit to the Junior School. They returned to the GBR Hall, seated as they once did on floor, before opening time capsules left by their Year 6 selves.

Carefully boxed, and unopened for six years, there are letters and messages left to their future selves, with photos, effort cards, sporting memorabilia, books, shoes and other mementos of a time past. Then it’s off to see their old classrooms and stomping grounds. Now towering giants, they duck under low branches, cross the creek in a single bound, and tower over teachers who crane their necks and get onto their toes to hug them.

The Class of 2026 Year 12s were in Year 6 in 2020, and so missed out on many of the milestones of that important year. There were no trips to Milikapiti, Pormpuraaw or Canberra and the Year 6 production of Madagascar JR was performed to an empty hall. Yet for they students who went through it, the comfort of the Junior School remains, and it was certainly a joy for both students and teachers to bond and see each other once again.

For the past week Team Ad Astra have been in Singapore at the Aramco STEM Racing World Finals mixing it up with over 90 teams from across the world.

Overnight, the team’s Knockout round of racing ended with a berth in the Semi Finals, placing them in the top eight fastest teams, matching their performance last year.

With the judging, interviews, and presentations all complete, there’s only the awards ceremony that awaits them.

This time last year, the 2025 Team Ad Astra finished 15th overall. Carrying the hopes of the school community and the pride of the nation, we wish the 2026 Team Ad Astra, Gianlucca, Bill, Reggie, Marco, Jack and Thomas the best of luck. Go Tonners!

Now back on home soil, a group of Secondary School students and staff recently returned from an unforgettable journey through the Indian Himalayas and northern India. Over five days, they trekked 40km through the Indian Himalayas, climbing more than 3,500 metres and testing themselves in some challenging conditions. The trip concluded in Agra, where they visited the iconic Taj Mahal before heading home. A memorable experience combining adventure, culture and plenty of perspective along the way.

Green and gold awaits for Hamish (Year 11 and incoming 2027 School Captain), Noah and Faf (both Year 12) on their selection in the Australian Schoolboys Rugby squad.

This prestigious honour recognises their outstanding performances and years of hard work, earning them a place among the nation's leading schoolboy rugby players and a fabulous end to the season after becoming VSRU Premiers in August 2026.

We look forward to watching the boys represent Australia on the international stage and wish them every success as they take this exciting next step in their Rugby journeys.

A group of Year 6 students and staff enjoyed a cultural immersion through Vietnam, exploring Hoi An, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

A highlight was visiting Hoi An International School, where the boys connected with local students through classes, conversations and celebrating Vietnamese culture.

From exploring historic sites and local communities to making new friends and lasting memories, the tour was an enriching experience that showcased the curiosity, kindness and adventurous spirit of our boys.

A huge congratulations to Year 11 students Riley and Jake on their inaugural selection for the Tasmania Devils.

Riley and Jake have been outstanding contributors to Brighton Grammar football, proudly representing the School over many years. Alongside six other talented young footballers, they were officially welcomed as foundation Tassie Devils players at a draft-style event in Hobart.

Their selection follows a comprehensive talent identification and assessment process led by the Club’s recruiting, coaching and list management teams.

Riley and Jake will join the Tasmania Devils ahead of the Club’s inaugural AFL season in 2028. We wish them every success as they become part of a landmark moment in Tasmanian football history and take the next exciting step in their football journey.
