Celebrating our BSC Debating Success! 👏🎤
Over the course of the semester, students from Years 9-12 represented Brighton Secondary College in the DAV Senior Debating Competition, taking on schools from across the Brighton region through five challenging rounds of competition.
We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped up to debate. Whether they were a regular team member, a first-time speaker, or a fill-in supporting their peers, everyone's confidence, teamwork and commitment have been fantastic to see.
A special congratulations to our Year 12 debating team – Jenny, Zoe, Alex and Aarav – who achieved an outstanding result, finishing 1st in their division with a perfect record of 20 points! Despite three team members competing against students several years above them, they showed exceptional skill and composure and will now progress to finals against division winners from across Victoria next month.
Our Year 11 teams also performed strongly, finishing 5th and 8th in a league of 20 schools, while our Year 9 and 10 team impressed with their dedication and growth, with many students experiencing competitive debating for the first time.
Congratulations to all our debaters on an excellent semester. We look forward to cheering on our Year 12 team in the finals! 🏆
