As we come to the end of another season at Dinner Plain School tomorrow we are celebrating a season of learning, growth and many lifelong connections and friendships.
Our community has already started to scatter back ‘home’ all across Australia and beyond! The list of memories is long and varied, but all agree it has been an enriching experience. Some will return next year, others have come to the end of their DP journey, but all share in the unique and wholesome experience of at least one snow season in the DP winter wonderland.
Memories we have made this year:
Bushwalked all around DP in our beautiful alpine environment, played frisbee golf, held a Community Day, developed and implemented a DP Stamp Trail, connected with our community, been to weekly Cafe Reading at Club Wyndham and drunk lots of hot and iced chocolates, visited The Alpine School and attended workshops facilitated by Y9 students, shot at targets with the Biathlon Club, silent discoed around DP Hut, had a sausage sizzle or two (yes Saffy!) patted dingo cubs with Wildlife Wranglers (thanks Zev and Jake!), as well as snakes, bugs and other reptiles, been skiing and snowboarding with BCST, took part in the Australian Maths Competition, cross country skied, played cross country skiing ‘snowball’, fallen over on cross country skis, tobogganed down the Snow Mound out the front of school, played a lot of soccer in the snow at recess, a bit of cricket and other ball games, built snowmen, built cubbies in the Snow Gums, played in the cubbies (they’re still there!), raised awareness and money (over $1100!!) to protect the Snow Gums, been on nature hunts, been orienteering around the village, dressed up for Book Week, drunk Milo every Friday, picked-up litter on our ‘Clean-Up DP Day’, made our own pizzas at High Plains Hotel, eaten our pizzas at High Plains Hotel (thanks Snake), had our families visit the school so that we can share all of our learning from our short but unforgettable time at DP School!
And that’s before we talk about all the adventures we’ve had outside of school!
Have a great summer everyone and see you next year,
From all the staff and students at Dinner Plain Primary School
