This week at daycare, we focused on the wonderful world of the colour green! 💚🥑🥝The children had so much fun exploring and learning through a variety of green-themed activities. They painted using green capsicums, creating unique shapes and textures with each stamp. A favourite sensory experience was the wobbly green jelly with floating yellow ducks, which brought lots of smiles and curiosity. We also discovered how to make the colour green by mixing blue and yellow, sparking excitement and wonder. To top it all off, we read Where Is the Green Sheep? and went on our own little search for the green sheep. It was a fun and engaging week filled with colour, creativity, and laughter.🟢🫑🍋‍🟩

Today, the children engaged in a sensory-rich and imaginative play experience centred around the colour blue. To introduce and explore this colour, we set up a tactile activity using flour, blue buckets, and shovels. The children were immediately drawn to the soft, powdery texture of the flour and were excited to scoop, pour, and transfer it into the bright blue buckets.💙🚙🖌️

As they scooped flour using the shovels and their hands, we added another element of exploration: water and droppers. The children carefully used the droppers to add small amounts of water to the flour, noticing how it changed texture. They experimented with squeezing and releasing the droppers, watching as the water droplets soaked into the flour and created sticky, moldable clumps. 🔵🪣💧

This week at Miss Em’s, we had a vibrant and cheerful focus on the colour yellow! The children explored this sunny shade through a range of engaging activities, from bright and beautiful crafts to hands-on sensory play. Our classrooms were filled with yellow-themed fun as we painted with different shades of yellow, created yellow sensory tubs, and played with yellow sensory materials like rice, pasta, and slime. The focus on yellow sparked plenty of excitement and creativity, helping the children to recognise and explore the colour in playful, meaningful ways.💛⭐️🌻🌝🌙🌼🐝🍋🚜🟨

What a wonderful time we had during the April school holidays here at Miss Em’s Little Gems Daycare! Our days were filled with laughter, creativity, and endless fun as we welcomed our school-aged children for a special holiday program packed with exciting activities.🌈

We celebrated the Easter season with a range of themed crafts and games. The children loved decorating Easter eggs and biscuits, each one more colourful and unique than the last! One of the highlights was our big Easter egg hunt — the excitement and happy faces as they searched high and low for hidden treasures were priceless.🐣

Cooking was a huge hit, with the kids getting hands-on in the kitchen making delicious treats. We also explored the world of science through fun and safe experiments that sparked curiosity and wonder. From bubbling reactions to simple creations, our little scientists were full of questions and enthusiasm.😇

Every day brought something new, and the joy and energy of the children made it a holiday to remember. Thank you to all the families for your continued support — we loved sharing this special time with your little gems!🥰

Setting up this area was intentional, as it allows children to explore the concepts of construction and teamwork in a playful and interactive way.
