If you enjoyed the Brisbane Riverfire on the weekend, especially the ADF air show, you need to thank a BISHS student! Niall (Callsign NAILS) graduated BISHS in 2014 and joined the Royal Australian Airforce. He was one of the pilots that flew the Super Hornet over the skies of Brisbane. He represented his school and country with pride, and we are immensely proud of him. Go NAILS! Check out his extremely cool flight video below.

Reminder: Student Free Day Friday 4 September

A reminder to all families that today, Friday 4 September, is a gazetted Student Free Day for all Queensland State Schools.

As a result, Bribie Island State High School will be closed for the day, including the school’s Administration Office. Students are not required to attend school.

Normal school operations and classes will resume on Monday 7 September.

We wish all students and families a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

On Wednesday our Junior and Youth AFLX teams played in the State Semi Final. Unfortunately, after two very hard-fought games, our Youth girls lost to Palm Beach and our Junior girls lost by 9 against Mountain Creek.

Even though the score did not favour us, we are so incredibly proud of both teams and the season they have had to now be in the top 6 schools in the State. This is a massive achievement in itself.

Thank you for the tireless effort of all our AFL Staff, family and supporters. It has been a great year in the AFL Schools of Excellence Competition and Queensland Schools Cup.

We now look forward to next year with upcoming practice matches and development games scheduled for the end of the year"
