Brewarrina Central School is located in Brewarrrina, a small rural town in far western New South Wales. The school draws its enrolment from the immediate township and settlement. A small number of children travel by bus from Gongolgon (50 kilometres) and Weilmoringle (100kms) each day. The majority of the student population (97%) identifies as Aboriginal. The school is part of the Connected Commun

ity strategy and has developed a close working relationship with the AECG and SRG. As a result of community involvement within the school there has been a strong emphasis on Aboriginal education and cultural awareness. Brewarrina Central School offers a broad and innovative curriculum, including Big Picture and the Clontarf Academy. The school caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 12 and provides a comprehensive education for all students. Enduring personalised learning, building school capacity and continuing to develop community partnerships for learning have been identified as the key areas for the school.

What a great show the last two days with Crime Story! Some very clever students in our secondary team solved the Cafe crime through investigation, crime scenes, police interviews, fingerprints and a court trial. A fantastic workshop highlighting careers in policing, law and criminal investigation. Students also learnt about their own skills they have that they can transfer into a range of employment opportunities. Thank you Crime Story and Luke who made the last two days great fun and a fantastic learning opportunity for our students. 🚔🚨

Years 7-10 participated in an exciting crime investigation process with the Crime Story workshop, delivered through the Employment Pathways Program (EPP). Students enjoyed working through a crime scene for evidence and using questioning and inference skills to determine facts of the crime and who may have committed it. The workshop will continue tomorrow - and we will find out who did it!

As part of their literacy unit, 3-6T have been busy creating their very own persuasive brochures, encouraging tourists to come and visit the Brewarrina Fish Traps.

Students have been putting all their new learning into action, using persuasive language, strong vocabulary, catchy headings, interesting facts and eye catching designs to convince visitors that the Fish Traps are a must see!

It’s wonderful to see our students building their literacy skills while learning about and sharing what makes our local community so special. ❤️

We’re very proud of the effort and creativity going into their brochures and can’t wait to share some of the finished products!
