Congratulations Sea Swift for winning the AI and Technology award at the 2026 QIC Infrastructure Innovation Awards!

For island communities across Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait, the hardest part of a freight journey is often the last kilometre.

Sea Swift came to us in March with a question. Could an uncrewed aircraft move cargo from a vessel sitting a kilometre offshore to shore, safely and repeatably? We worked alongside them through the planning, design and ex*****on of the trial, and in June put it to the test off Cairns. Eleven flights in a single day, loads up to 75kg, working through different weights, configurations and ranges.

We recently had six Queensland State Emergency Service members join us to complete RePL and AROC training with us!

Their RePL qualifications add real capability for SES teams. Drones can now be deployed over a search and rescue operation, flown across flood and storm affected areas while helping keep teams safe with increased situational awareness. It's why uncrewed systems are becoming an essential capability in emergency services.

Toll Aviation's 'Women in Aviation 2026' was held in Canberra last month, bringing together 40 women from all areas of the business for two days of workshops, sessions and time on the ground with our teams.

Our Business Manager Lesley Condon ran a session introducing the group to Toll Uncrewed Systems, covering the aircraft we operate, the work we do alongside emergency services, government and defence, and where uncrewed capability is heading. For many in the room, it was their first look at what our team does.

Over the two days the group also toured the Toll Ambulance Rescue Canberra base to see how the team contributes to the local community, and met patients and crew involved in lifesaving missions. They took part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial, laying a wreath in appreciation of those who have served. They also participated in a Q&A with the CEO of Civil Aviation Safety Authority - CASA, Pip Spence.

Experiences like these remind us exactly why we love being part of Toll Aviation.

Our instructors Ben and Nick were back on the road last week, touching down in Cairns to train eight firefighters from Queensland Fire Department's Far Northern Region.

Throughout the week, the firefighters complete their RePL, Sub 25kg Multi Rotor and AROC qualifications. Three courses in one week is a big ask, and all eight passed.

With fire season approaching, these new skills will help crews identify hotspots, track fire spread, and improve operational safety. It's exciting to see the uncrewed capability QFD continues to build across its operations.

Congratulations to the group, and thank you to Ben and Nick for getting them through a big week!

Over the past two weeks, the Toll Uncrewed Systems team has delivered DJI FlyCart 100 training through both our public training program for RSGx and a dedicated course for the Queensland Fire Department as they integrate the drone into their operations.

Purpose-built for heavy-lift aerial logistics, the DJI FlyCart 100 is designed to transport equipment into challenging or hard-to-reach environments with precision and efficiency. During the training, participants completed a cargo load drop scenario, gaining hands-on experience in safely planning, transporting and delivering payloads using the aircraft's system.
