This week at Bush Kidz Brassall we are acknowledging Child Protection Week and reinforcing one of the most important messages we can teach our children - every child has the right to feel safe, supported, heard and valued.

Throughout the week, our children have been engaging in a range of age-appropriate learning experiences designed to introduce important protective behaviours in a positive and reassuring way.

Through stories, discussions, play and intentional learning experiences, we have been exploring concepts such as recognising feelings, understanding personal boundaries, identifying trusted adults, using our voices, asking for help and knowing that it is okay to tell someone when something doesn’t feel right.

For young children, child protection education isn’t about frightening them or introducing concepts beyond their developmental understanding. It is about empowering children with simple, practical skills and helping them develop confidence in communicating their feelings and needs.

At Bush Kidz Brassall we are committed to creating an environment where children know:

💙 My body belongs to me.
💚 My feelings are important.
💛 I can say no when something doesn’t feel right.
🧡 I can ask a trusted adult for help.
💜 I deserve to feel safe.

By beginning these conversations in the early years, we can help children build the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to feel safe and supported within their world.

Every child deserves to feel safe, every day.

🌿 Early Childhood Educators Day 🌿

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating Early Childhood Educators Day - a special day dedicated to recognising and appreciating the incredible educators who nurture, guide, inspire and support young children during the most important years of their development.

Our educators do so much more than care for children. They create safe and welcoming spaces, build meaningful relationships, encourage curiosity, celebrate each child’s uniqueness and help children develop the confidence and skills they carry with them as they grow.

To make the day extra special, our educators were showered with kindness, appreciation and thoughtful gifts from our wonderful children, families and colleagues. From heartfelt notes and little handmade treasures to beautiful words of appreciation, every gesture meant so much.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing educators for the patience, dedication, creativity and love you bring to your work each and every day. Your impact reaches far beyond the moments you share with the children. You are helping shape confident, capable and caring little people, and we are so grateful for all that you do. ❤️

On Wednesday 2nd September we will be celebrating and acknowledging the incredible educators who make such a difference in the lives of our children every single day.

Our educators do so much more than teach, they nurture, encourage, comfort, inspire, listen, support and celebrate every little milestone.

To help us celebrate our amazing team, we have created a special appreciation space in our foyer where children and families can leave a little note, message or drawing to let our educators know just how much they are appreciated.

Whether it’s a simple thank you, a favourite memory, a kind message or a little picture from the children - we would love for our families to help us fill our appreciation space with lots of love.

Today our kindergarten children explored Red Nose Day in an age-appropriate and meaningful way. We talked about the importance of caring for babies and children, being kind to one another and helping our community.

Through conversations, stories and hands-on activities the children had the opportunity to learn that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference❤️

It was wonderful to see the children engaging with the day with such curiosity, empathy and enthusiasm.

Last week we had so much fun exploring the wonderful world of science.

Throughout the week, the children were involved in a range of exciting hands-on experiments including exploring water, watching “disappearing milk”, creating elephant toothpaste 🐘🪥 and making erupting volcanoes.

These experiences sparked plenty of curiosity, excitement and wonder as the children watched, wondered, predicted and discovered what happened next. We loved hearing their ideas, questions and theories as they explored each experiment.

Why is exploring science important in early childhood?

Early science experiences help children to:

🔎 Develop curiosity - encouraging children to ask questions, investigate and discover how things work.

🧠 Build problem-solving skills - children learn to make predictions, test their ideas and think about possible solutions.

💭 Encourage critical thinking - experimenting gives children opportunities to observe, compare, discuss and make connections.

🗣️ Develop language and communication - children learn new vocabulary as they describe what they see, think and wonder.

🤲 Strengthen hands-on learning - children learn through doing, touching, observing and experiencing concepts for themselves.

🌟 Build confidence - discovering something new and seeing their ideas come to life encourages children to become confident and capable learners.

🌏 Develop an understanding of the world - science helps children begin to understand the people, materials, environments and natural phenomena around them.

Most importantly, science in early childhood is about encouraging children to be curious, confident and excited to explore the world around them.

A huge thank you to Miss Jamie for creating such engaging learning experiences and to our wonderful children for their enthusiasm, curiosity and sense of wonder

Our Kindergarten children have had a busy start to Book Week, exploring a range of exciting sensory trays inspired by some of our favourite stories! 📖💛

These hands-on experiences provide children with opportunities to explore, imagine, create and connect with the stories they love in meaningful and playful ways.

Why is literacy so important in early childhood?

Developing literacy from an early age helps children to:

📚 Build a love of books, stories and reading
🗣️ Develop language, vocabulary and communication skills
🧠 Strengthen listening, thinking and comprehension skills
✍️ Develop early writing and mark-making skills
💭 Use their imagination and creativity
❤️ Build confidence in expressing their ideas and feelings
🔤 Develop an understanding of sounds, letters, words and print
🤝 Connect with others through shared stories and conversations

Literacy is so much more than learning to read and write - it is about giving children the tools to communicate, understand the world around them and develop a lifelong love of learning

We are loving seeing our Kindergarten children bring their favourite stories to life through sensory, play-based learning

Last month our kindergarten children had the opportunity to take part in the Healthy Harold show, where they learned about body boundaries, personal safety, and respectful relationships.

Through engaging discussions and age-appropriate activities, the children explored the importance of understanding their bodies, recognising their feelings, and knowing how to seek help from trusted adults when needed.

We loved seeing the children actively participate and build valuable skills that support their confidence, wellbeing and safety. 💙🦒

On Friday 05.06.26 we celebrated World Environment Day here at Bush Kidz Brassall. As part of this special experience, families were encouraged to adopt a plant to take home and plant in their gardens.

This initiative provided a wonderful opportunity for children and families to connect with nature while learning about the importance of caring for our environment. By taking a plant home, children can continue their learning journey, nurturing and watching their plant grow alongside their families.

We can't wait to see how the plants flourish and thrive in their new homes and look forward to hearing about their progress. Thank you to all the families who participated and helped make our World Environment Day celebration such a meaningful and memorable experience. 🌱💚
