Enjoy the upcoming long weekend! ☀️❄️

A reminder that this Friday is a statewide professional learning day (student free day) for all DECYP students from Kindergarten to Year 12 💜

That means… no school and the perfect excuse for a little sleep-in! 😴

And the good news doesn’t stop there, Monday is also a public holiday for the King’s Birthday 🎈

Enjoy the extra long weekend!

📷 School Cross Country Carnival 🏃‍♂️👟

On Monday afternoon, our school community gathered to watch and support our Cross Country Carnival. From our Little Possums to Grade 6 students, everyone participated and ran distances from 200m through to 1.9km, all while facing the colder weather. Such resilience, determination and bravery were on display throughout the afternoon.

Thank you to all the spectators who came along and encouraged our runners - your support was greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to Leonard House, who were announced as the overall winners by just 3 points. What an incredible effort by both our houses!

📷 National Simultaneous Storytime 📚📖

On Wednesday, our students joined schools, libraries and communities across Australia to celebrate the 2026 National Simultaneous Storytime 2026 📚🦘

This year’s featured story was Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, beautifully illustrated by Jake A. Minton. The story follows spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback, sharing important messages about teamwork, perseverance and believing in yourself.

National Simultaneous Storytime is a wonderful celebration of literacy, imagination and connection through shared reading. It was fantastic to see our students engaged, listening carefully and enjoying the story together with millions of children around Australia and beyond. 🌟📖

From newspaper to TV - our students are becoming media stars! 🌟

Last night on the local 7 News, our little school was proudly featured prominently during coverage of the Primary School Futsal Tournament! ⚽📺

It’s wonderful to see our students recognised for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive presence on such a big stage. We are so proud of everyone who represented our school so exceptionally throughout the tournament. Well done, team! 👏💛

What’s happening around our school? This week…

📷 Const. Shegog Visit to Upper ‘Cyber Safety’👮‍♀️📱

Our Upper-Class students were very privileged to have Constable Shegog visit and deliver a ThinkUKnow session on Cyber Safety. It was a highly informative session that helped students understand the importance of staying safe online and making smart choices in the digital world.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and share such valuable knowledge with our students!

📷 Breakfast Club ‘Special’ 🍳☀️

The last two Wednesday Breakfast Clubs have been a huge hit, with bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on the menu for both students and staff! Nothing starts the day better than a full belly and a warm breakfast.

A big thank you to our P&F for supplying the ingredients and to our staff for cooking up the delicious feed. Your support and teamwork are greatly appreciated!

📷 Walk Safely to School 🚶🚶‍♀️

It was wonderful to see so many students, staff and families participate in Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 22 May. Everyone gathered at the Town Hall before walking together to school, learning and following important road safety rules along the way.

On arrival, participants enjoyed a healthy breakfast of fruit and yogurt. Thank you to everyone who joined in and supported the importance of being active, healthy and safe kids!

📷 Upper Summer Sport at Bracknell 🏏🏉

The final Summer Upper Sport at Bracknell was a great success! Students enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of sport and teamwork, with visiting schools from Longford and Mole Creek joining us for cricket, speedball, touch football and T-ball.

It was wonderful to see such positive participation, encouragement and sportsmanship across all activities. Students especially loved the BBQ lunch provided by our amazing P&F - the perfect way to refuel and get ready for an action-packed afternoon of sport.

Important message from DECYP about road safety. 🚸

Thank you to all our students, families and community members for helping keep our roads safe — especially around schools. Please continue to slow down, follow parking signs, use crossings safely and be mindful of children during busy drop off and pick up times.

Together we can help keep everyone safe. 💛

It’s Road Safety Week. The perfect time to freshen up on some road safety tips for school.

When you’re driving in a school zone or near buses remember to:

🫸 Slow down, ensure you go under 40km/h in school zones and around school buses
🫸 Be ready to stop
🫸 Always be alert for children
🫸 Give extra space in wet weather.

Together let’s keep our roads safe.

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ Walk Safely to School Day 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

A reminder that our ‘Walk Safely to School’ event will be held this Friday, meeting at the Town Hall at 8:30am. Families are most welcome to join staff and students as we walk safely to school together.

On arrival at school, students will receive a piece of fruit or small tub of yoghurt provided as part of the morning (this will replace Breakfast Club for the day).

Let’s support healthy habits and active lifestyles because “Active Kids Are Healthy Kids!” 🍎💪
