🌻 Happy 1 Year Anniversary Miss Kota 🌻

Just over a year ago, a keen Year 12 student knocked on our door seeking employment in an industry she wished to pursue, Early Childhood.

To be honest, I was nervous! Our profession is not for the faint hearted. The days are long, expectations are demanding, and the rewards are sadly sometimes few and far between.

I wondered "why"? What made this bright young lady want a career in this industry, and then I remembered my own "why" when at the same age, I too joined Early Childhood Education and Care as a Trainee fresh out of High School.

So, it was worth a shot.

Fast forward a year, and Dakota's "why" is evident every day. She doesn't even have to walk in to a room, merely just has to walk past and the children chant her name and wave profusely. The way she lights up a room by being in it, and the genuine connections she has with each child is something you can't teach. Dakota excels in her studies and is always happy to help in any way she can.

So, Happy 1st Anniversary to our "Big Sister" of the centre. We look forward to watching you not only grow, but flourish in your career, and we are all so proud to have you as part of our Milestones Riverstone Rise family. 🫶

Carlos the African Drummer 🥁 🪘

Today we enjoyed the sounds of some African Drums, with Carlos!

Carlos the African Drummer is an annual visitor at our centre, encouraging the children to sing, dance and follow the beats on the bongos together!

🎪 Carnival Party! 🎪

Today we celebrated our August birthdays by having a Carnival themed birthday party!

It was SO MUCH FUN!

Our entire centre joined in the fun the games and enjoyed some delicious fruit smoothies 😋

👖 Jeans For Genes Day 2026👖

1 in 20 children have a genetic condition or birth defect.

With that perspective, this year we decided to use Jeans for Genes Day to promote inclusive practices that support the child's mental well-being - a goal in our current Centre Philosophy.

The children came together in the warmth of the winter sun to collaboratively design a pair of jeans using each of their favourite colours.

Miss Laura then proudly wore this very oversized pair of jeans for the remainder of the day. The children thought this was great! They were able to identify the various contributions by each of their friends and recalled what pictures each other drew and why.

Some days are just about taking it easy and enjoying the simple moments 🌞

Today marks National Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Children's Day!

We embed Indigenous perspectives right throughout our day here at Milestones Riverstone Rise.

From our Acknowledgement to Country in our Yarning Circle every morning, to our Bush Tucker Garden and throughout our learning environments; cultural awareness and inclusion practices are safe and contextually relevant. Long term partnerships with our local Indigenous Community models to our children that learning also comes from people and stories, not just objects and decorations.

While we believe Indigenous perspectives should be woven throughout our every day experiences, we take today to show special recognition of our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander children, and we pledge to keep the culture alive by respectfully educating the children of today, the traditional ways of those that walked this land before us. 🪃
