Closing Message | Reflecting on Ordinary Time 🙏✨

We conclude our newsletter with a beautiful reflection from our RE Teacher, Mr Blake Bano, on the meaning and significance of Ordinary Time in the Catholic Liturgical Calendar.

Ordinary Time is not simply the time between the important seasons. It is the time we are given to live in the light of Christ’s Resurrection. ✝️

It reminds us that the ordinary days are not simply days we are waiting to get through—they are the days we are given to truly live. In these everyday moments, God is always present, inviting us to grow in faith, hope, and love. 💙

Your hard work, positive choices and consistent effort have truly paid off. We are so proud of your achievements and the way you continue to demonstrate our school values each day. 🏅

We also extend a big congratulations to our outstanding athletes and teams on their recent achievements, including our Swimming Age Champions, Cross Country Age Champions, Athletics Age Champions and our Stage 4 Girls Football Finalists! ⚽🏃‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Year 10 Careers Development classes 1 and 2 were privileged to hear from Dr Jo this week. Dr Jo is a Future of Work Expert who shared with students what they should think about in high school and five key action points. Students were able to take time to imagine where they would like to be in 10 years’ time and consider where AI versus humans are more important for specific tasks. Thanks, Dr Jo, for taking time to support Santa Sophia students.

What an incredible day at the Captivate Primary Dance Competition! 💃🏆✨

We are so incredibly proud of all of our talented primary dancers who represented our school with energy, confidence and outstanding teamwork!

A huge congratulations to our teams on their amazing achievements:

🥇 1st Place – Stage 1 Jazz
🥈 2nd Place – Stage 3 Lyrical
🥉 3rd Place – Stage 3 Hip Hop

The day was made even more exciting as our students also had the opportunity to participate in an awesome Hip Hop and Contemporary workshop with renowned dancer and choreographer, Neale Whitaker! Neale is known for his unique fusion of contemporary, commercial and street styles and has performed and choreographed across major television programs and events, including So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Academy, Australia’s Got Talent and the ARIAs.

It was an incredible opportunity for our students to learn from such an experienced industry professional and explore new movement styles throughout the workshop.

Each team performed beautifully and should be so proud of the hard work, dedication and commitment they have shown throughout their preparation. Congratulations to all of our wonderful dancers on an amazing day of performances, learning and success! ❤️✨

On Wednesday, our School Captain and Vice Captain had the privilege of attending the Education Mass and Social Justice Expo at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, alongside schools from across the Parramatta Diocese.

With Bishop Vincent, Principals, parents, Religious Education Coordinators and Diocesan Clergy gathered together, the celebration was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate their important role in the mission of the Church. 💙

Well done ur Year 12 Vice Captains, Olivia and Abiel, who proudly represented our school by processing into the Cathedral with the school flag. What a wonderful moment of leadership, faith and school spirit! 👏✨

🎥✨ VET: LIFE CHANGING POSSIBILITIES!

What can VET open the door to? These students have the answer! 🚪👏

As part of National Skills Week, students across CSPD took part in the ParraSkills Video Competition, showcasing how VET can build practical skills, inspire career goals and open up new pathways for the future. 🎬

With 21 creative entries from Santa Sophia Catholic College Gables, Caroline Chisholm College Glenmore Park, CathWest Innovation College Mt Druitt, Nagle College, Blacktown South, St Columba's Catholic College, Springwood, St Pauls Catholic College, Greystanes,Xavier College Llandilo, Maronite College of the Holy Family and Catherine McAuley Westmead, there were plenty of incredible ideas on show!

🏆 Congratulations to Santa Sophia Catholic College on taking out first place, with Maronite College of the Holy Family placing second and Catherine McAuley Westmead taking third.

Last week, Santa Sophia was very well represented at the Hills Zone Athletics Carnival with a team of 45 students competing across all events. The efforts of our students on the day were exceptional with many personal bests achieved throughout the day. Congratulations to our students for their efforts.

A special well done to CJ on being named the Overall Senior Girls Age Champion.

Good luck to Tahlia, Isaac, Aric, Noah, Enzo, Archie, Ella, Carter, and CJ who qualified for the Diocesan Carnival this Friday. They will be joined by students who are participating in the 1500m and High Jump.
