Tahlia is Start Shining’s student of the week. Tahlia is in my Wednesday pre-k class and what a delightful little girl she is 👏🤩💗 Tahlia is always so sweet to all her Wednesday classmates and is also super cheerful and chatty every lesson. She tries her very best each week and I’ve never seen her without a smile on her face. Tahlia’s handwriting was lovely today and she has a positive attitude towards her learning. I look forward to educating Tahlia for the remainder of the year. Well done Tahlia, you truly are a star student! 🌟👏📚

Elijah is in my early morning Friday pre-k class and did amazing today with reading heart words ❤️ Heart words are high-frequency words that children encounter often when reading. They are words we learn ‘by heart’ because parts of them may not follow typical phonics rules. I guide the pre-k children by highlighting the sound they need to remember, which helps them recognise and read the words quickly.

Elijah is such a star at reading and I am so proud of the leaps and bounds he’s making every week. He has such a positive attitude towards his learning and he is achieving remarkable results!! Well done Elijah 🧡🩵 It is a privilege to educate such a respectful and enthusiastic young learner 🌟🤩👏

Penelope is Start Shining’s student of the week ✨👏💗 Penelope is in my Thursday pre-k class and is such a joy to teach! She comes to class each week dressed as a princess with a crown or a wand and has the biggest smile ready to learn! 👸👑 She has come so far since starting pre-k because she applies herself in class every week. Penelope is the most well behaved and respectful student. Her bright, loving and bubbly personality brings so much joy to every class, and I am so lucky to have the privilege of educating such a kind, caring and enthusiastic young learner. Penelope, I am so proud of everything you’ve achieved this year and I know you will love school next year in kindergarten 🌟😁✏️

Today I played a game with my Friday afternoon Pre-K kiddies called, ‘If you think you know my tricky word, shout it out!’ They were all so enthusiastic and involved! As you can hear from their very loud voices, they were eager to shout out the word they could hear after blending the individual sounds together 🥰

The children were able to listen carefully to the sounds in 3-, 4- and even 5-letter words, blend them together, and confidently call out the word they thought the sounds made. I am so proud of their enthusiasm, confidence and growing phonological awareness! ❤️👏
