As part of our Pyjama Week last week, the Kinder children enjoyed a cosy and engaging day focused on bedtime routines and healthy self-care habits. ๐
They discussed about what we do before going to bed and learned some bedtime vocabulary in Mandarin, including ็ก่กฃ (pyjamas), ๅบ (bed), ๆๅคด (pillow), ็ๅท (toothbrush), and ๅท็ (brush teeth).
They enthusiastically repeated the new words, practised their pronunciation, and enjoyed making connections between the Mandarin words and familiar bedtime items.
Following their discussion, the children participated in a small group bedtime routine sequencing activity. They carefully cut out the picture cards before placing them in the correct order, such as putting on pyjamas, brushing their teeth, reading a bedtime story, and going to sleep.
The children were excited to share their own bedtime routines and compare their own routines with their friends. This experience supported the development of fine motor skills, sequencing, problem-solving, and early literacy while encouraging children to think about the importance of each step in a healthy bedtime routine.
