Our holistic educational approach places equal emphasis on practical, creative, social and intellectual development.

At the Aurora Southern Highlands Steiner School we value all aspects of the child. Steiner education supports children to become confident and self-aware people with a sense of purpose in the world. Steiner students develop a unique depth of understanding about themselves, their relationships with others, society through history and the times in which they live.

The magic of capturing art in the making. Some glimpses into our HSC Visual Arts program where students have been immersed in the creative journey, photographing, painting and sketching as their major works begin to take shape.

Class Four were immersed in farm life today at Winderong Farm. Through meaningful farm work, our students experienced the value of caring for the land, working together, and understanding the cycles that sustain us. They also had the opportunity to help prepare Biodynamic Preparation 500, getting their hands dirty and connecting deeply with the living world around them.

Thank you to the Winderong Farm team for sharing your knowledge and welcoming us so warmly.

We believe childhood should not be rushed.

Through long stretches of uninterrupted outdoor play, children develop the foundations for lifelong learning: creativity, resilience, independence, social awareness, and a sense of wonder.

An unhurried childhood honours the natural pace of development and recognises that some of the most important learning happens when children are simply given the time and freedom to play.

Class 3 Farming: In Steiner education, farm work holds a special significance for the nine-year-old child. At this age, children begin to experience a growing awareness of themselves as separate from the world around them. Through practical work on the land, they discover their own capacity to contribute, create, and care. The farm offers a tangible experience of interdependence, showing how human effort, animals, plants, soil, sun, and rain all work together to sustain life.

Gathered around the fire, our community came together to mark Reconciliation Week with song, craft, and shared experiences. Students sampled bush tucker, many tasting native flavours for the very first time (and going back for more!) and cooked damper over the fire.

Today we were reminded that reconciliation grows through listening, learning, and walking together with respect. Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a meaningful afternoon together on country.
