When stories become their own.

There is something special about hearing a child retell a story they have heard many times. Using the illustrations as a guide, he recalled the sequence of events, remembered specific words and phrases, and confidently repeated parts of the story almost word for word.

This is more than remembering a story. It shows developing memory, language, comprehension, sequencing, confidence and a growing understanding that pictures, words and storytelling can all be used to communicate meaning.

For us, this is another example of the hundred languages of children — the many ways children make sense of, interpret and express their understanding of the world. When children revisit experiences that are meaningful to them, they build knowledge, develop their own theories and find increasingly complex ways to share what they know.

Not everyone will be the right fit. Maybe you are.

Do you believe children are capable, competent and full of potential?

Do you enjoy working alongside a team that challenges ideas, celebrates curiosity and never settles for “that’s how we’ve always done it”?

Do you believe child safety isn’t just a policy but a responsibility every single day?

At Kamalei Children’s Centre, we believe children deserve educators who are curious, reflective and genuinely invested in their learning. The safety, wellbeing and rights of children are at the centre of everything we do We’re looking for a Diploma-qualified educator who values meaningful relationships, sees children as capable learners, and wants to be part of a team that continuously reflects, learns and grows together.

If you’re looking for somewhere to simply “do the job”, we probably aren’t the service for you.

If you’re looking for a space where your ideas are valued, professional conversations are encouraged, learning is made visible in creative ways, and continuous improvement is part of everyday practice, we’d love to hear from you.

We don’t expect perfection.

We do expect professionalism, integrity, a commitment to child safety, and a genuine passion for learning alongside children and colleagues.

What you’ll bring

*An ACECQA-approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
*A current NSW Working with Children Check.
*Current First Aid or willingness to obtain.
*A sound understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and the importance of reflective practice.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to build respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
*A commitment to children’s rights, inclusion and creating environments where every child feels safe, respected and valued.
*A willingness to contribute ideas, reflect on practice and be an active member of a collaborative team. Please email your interest to [email protected]

I love finding beautiful resources for the children to use in their investigations. The Kookaburra children are exploring insects and bugs at the moment. They are going to love these!!!
