As an aspiring carer, it is important to ask yourself, "why do I want to work in the care industry?".
Being a personal carer can be rewarding, challenging and often involves helping people through some of their toughest times or daily challenges. When we ask our students why they want to study a care course, we gain insight into their experience with loved ones, stories of overcoming personal challenges or hardships, and often no two stories are quite the same. Understanding our motivations and what drives us to be carers enables us to ensure we present our best selves in our career, and reminds us why we do what we do: to help improve the lives of those around us. Being a carer is more than a career, it's making a difference in individuals' lives.

Stay safe SEQ community!
BREAKING: Lockdown will be extended in South-East Queensland until 4pm Sunday 8 August.
If you are in the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim, you can only leave home for the four permitted reasons.
It is so important to limit your movements as much as possible - only leave home if it is essential.
If you do leave home for one of the permitted reasons, you must wear a mask.
Anyone who has been in an impacted local government area since 1am Saturday 31 July must observe the same lockdown conditions wherever you are in Queensland.
These measures are critical to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Good evening students,
In line with QLD Health's latest COVID-19 advice we have made the decision to suspend all activities on campus at all QLD AWTI locations for all day Monday 2/8 and Tuesday 3/8 2021.
We will ensure students are updated more over the coming days via email, so please check this daily. All classes scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will be rescheduled once it is safe to do so, and the situation will be re-evaluated each day based on the latest health advice.
As the office will be unstaffed, please send all enquiries through email to [email protected]
If your enquiry is urgent, please call directly to operations manager Dr Vinod Chandran on 0431 738 459 or contact this page directly through messenger to speak with a member of our team.

Urgent Update Regarding Student Placement:
We have been advised this morning by our affiliated facilities that coinciding with the Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeanette Young's, update to facilities in restricted areas in Queensland that all clinical placement students are to have their received both doses of their COVID 19 vaccinations. This applies to any students entering an at risk facility which includes all our aged care facilities and supported accommodation partners. Therefore, we ask any of our students who have been fully vaccinated to provide us with evidence of vaccination to be considered to be eligible for placements at this time. Those who are yet to be vaccinated please make appropriate bookings as best you can and provide us vaccination evidence once completed. Please be advised that due to this you may find delays with your placement commencement as our facilities require your evidence of vaccinations before permitted to enter and commence placements with them.
Please check your email for more information, including an FAQ and who to contact if you have any questions.

Lockdown is over! What's happening on campus?
Now lockdown has lifted in South East Queensland, there are still some changes going forward to how our campus will need to operate in order to be COVID-Safe.
1. Until the 16th of July, in line with the mandatory order announced by the QLD Premier, Masks will be mandatory on campus at all times. This includes when attending classes, visiting reception and submitting assessments. We ask that if you do not need to attend campus, please consider not attending and calling or emailing the college instead. All documentation, including assessments and logbooks, can be submitted via email to [email protected]. We will provide continual updates via email and to this page on the latest health advice.
2. To enter our campus you must check in using the check in QLD app. Please use the code located on the lower level entrance (Ground Level to the right of the lift) or at the door at the entrance to reception on level 1. You must show the receptionist on duty the proof of check in when you arrive.
3. Due to the ongoing risk of community transmission, you will need to sign a declaration when attending classes to confirm you
- have not travelled interstate or to an otherwise declared hotspot
- have not visited an identified contact tracing location during the dates and times listed in the QLD health website (https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/contact-tracing)
- do not have any COVID-19 like symptoms
Your temperature may also be checked upon entry.
4. Some classes, where possible, will be moved online over the next 2 weeks. If you have booked in for a class on campus during this period you will be contacted by a member of staff via email to confirm whether your class will be held in person or online. All face to face classes have been capped at 15 students to ensure safe social distancing measures can be enforced within the classroom.
