✨ Diwali Celebrations✨
We recently celebrated Diwali — the Festival of Lights — and it was a vibrant and joyful day for everyone. 🌟

Some children arrived in their beautiful traditional outfits while others chose to dress up at the centre, filling the room with colour and excitement. Together, we explored the cultural significance of Diwali through music, dance, and food — enjoying dhal curry with rice, mango lassi, and learning a few fun Bollywood dance moves through a cultural dance incursion.
Miss Su also created some Rangoli on the foyer floor for everyone to observe.

Celebrating cultural events like Diwali helps children develop a sense of belonging, appreciation for diversity, and respect for different traditions. 💛

Wishing a very Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate. 🪔✨

🌳 Parent-Educator Catch Up at Leigh Park 🍎

On Saturday, our Red Apple Balwyn families and educators came together for a lovely morning catch up at Leigh Park. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect outside the centre, share conversations, and strengthen our sense of community.

The children enjoyed the open space, playing together while families relaxed and chatted with our educators and other parents. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was warm, and the park was filled with laughter and connection.

Thank you to all the families who joined us — we loved spending time with you! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🌿

🌿🎶 Today, our 3-year-old kindergarten children had a wonderful cultural experience with Sean from Didgeridoo Australia, who introduced them to Aboriginal music, storytelling, and traditions.

The children were fascinated by the Yidaki (Didgeridoo), mimicking sounds of animals like the kangaroo, kookaburra, rainbow serpent, and eagle. They moved like the animals and even explored dot painting using earthy materials like ochre and charcoal.

It was a joyful and respectful way to learn about Aboriginal culture, and we’re so proud of how curious and engaged the children were throughout! 🖤💛❤️

At Red Apple Balwyn, we love celebrating each child’s birthday—it’s a special milestone that helps build confidence, a sense of identity, and belonging. 🎈💛

Birthday celebrations in early childhood are more than just fun—they support emotional development, encourage positive social interactions, and help children feel valued and recognised within their community.

We keep the celebrations simple, inclusive, and joyful—making each child feel truly special on their big day! 🥳✨

🌍🥁 Feel the Rhythm! 🥁🌍

Our babies and toddlers had an absolute blast on Tuesday during a special African drumming incursion with Rhythm Culture! The room was filled with smiles, music, and movement as little hands explored the beats and rhythms of traditional African drums. 🎶👶

Such a joyful, sensory-rich experience that supports learning through sound, touch, and play!

The Easter Bunny magically left Easter Eggs hidden around the yard at Red Apple this morning!
The children eagerly dashed around the yard, baskets in hand, as they searched for brightly coloured Easter eggs hidden among the trees and flowers. Laughter and excitement filled the air as they celebrated Easter with joy and wonder, discovering sweet treats and tiny surprises tucked inside each egg. 🐣🌷🐰

🎉 Happy Sinhala and Tamil New Year! | සුභ අලුත් අවුරුද්දක් වේවා! 🌞

We had a fun-filled day celebrating Aluth Avurudda with traditional games, music, dress-ups, and sweet treats! 🎶🍬

The children learned about Sri Lankan New Year customs, played Bunis Kema (no-hands bun eating!) and Aliyata Asa Thabeema (pin the eye on the elephant), and even made coconut toffee! 🇱🇰

A joyful way to explore culture, traditions, and togetherness ❤️

Our Toddlers Room Adventure - The Five Little Monkeys

Our toddler explorers are having a blast diving into the classic "Five Little Monkeys" song! We sang, we danced, and we laughed as they kept teasing Mr Crocodile. The joy on their faces as they learned through music was priceless!
But the fun didn’t stop there! Our curious toddlers took their learning to the next level by cutting out their very own paper monkeys and pasting them onto a tree. It was such a delight to see them count each monkey as they carefully added them to the branches, working their fine motor and reinforcing their number skills in such a creative way.
We're so proud of how engaged and excited the children were as they combined music, art, and math in one fantastic activity.

Goldilocks and The Three Bears

Our 3-year-old kindergarten children have been busy exploring the classic story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears''.

The children's curiosity and excitement was sparked by the adventures of Goldilocks, and they want to read the story every day with the educators. To bring the tale to life, our wonderful educator, Maya, extended this interest by encouraging the children to enact the story in our classroom. The children took on roles as Goldilocks, Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear, using their imaginations and creativity to recreate the scenes. It was such a joy to watch them immerse themselves in the story!
Enacting stories offers amazing benefits for young children. It helps expand vocabulary and improve language skills. Acting out characters and scenes encourages cooperation, communication, and empathy as children work together and understand different perspectives.
It also fosters their creativity and encourages them to think outside the box, enhancing their imaginative skills. We're thrilled to see our little ones growing and learning in such a fun and interactive way!

Pyjama Day - July 2024

Last week, we celebrated Pyjama Day at our service. All the children came dressed in their cozy PJ's to celebrate it.
We did some fun baking activities, and everyone also got creative, making delicious fairy bread. The day's highlight was our movie time, with plenty of popcorn for our kindergarten children.
This special day wasn't just about fun—it also had great educational benefits! We shared the main idea behind this day with the children. The baking activities helped the children practice their math and measuring skills, while making fairy bread allowed them to explore creativity and follow instructions. Watching a movie together encouraged social interaction and comprehension skills.
Seeing all the children having such a great time, laughing, and enjoying themselves made the day truly special. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this day so memorable!

Toddler Room Adventure: Visiting the Greythorn Library!

Our toddler room children had an amazing time visiting the Greythorn Library. It was a day filled with exploration, excitement, and learning. Seeing their eyes light up with wonder as they discovered new books and stories was truly magical. Early exposure to books and reading helps children develop a lifelong love for stories and learning. The library visit sparked their curiosity and imagination. It provided wonderful opportunities for our toddlers to interact with others in the community and practice their social skills in a fun and engaging environment.
We will continue to nurture our children’s love for reading and connection to our wonderful community.
