Get Silly for a Serious Cause! ♥️
On the 28th of August, we raised funds for Red Nose Day, through our CHOEL market. The children and educators worked hard in the lead up to the event, creating pieces of art, clothing, and more, to raise money for a very important cause. Altogether the event raised an incredible $278.

A recent visit to our local library! 📚
Earlier this week, some of the Junior Inventors walked to Boronia Library where they were welcomed by Librarian, Bernadette. The children were captivated within the story telling of each book, through Bernadette’s animated and enthusiastic reading, the characters and setting of each story came to life ♥️
Following the storytelling session, the children were invited to explore the library’s StoryTime Pods. This interactive technology allowed them to engage with stories in a digital format, blending traditional literacy with modern technology. They navigated the touchscreens with confidence and curiosity, extending their understanding of narrative structures and digital literacy.

Have you visited our local library recently? 💭

🐝World Bee Day! 🌼
Last week, our buzzing little buddies took center stage as the Pioneers and Junior Inventors welcomed a very special guest—Holly the local beekeeper! 🧑‍🌾🍯
Holly gave us the buzz on all things bees! 🐝💬 We learned about the incredible roles different bees play in the hive, from the queen bee (the real VIP!) to the hardworking foragers and hive keepers.
The sweet surprise? We saw fresh honeycomb being made AND tasted two delicious types of honey—yum! 🍯👅
To keep our stripy friends safe and happy, here are some bee-autiful tips:
🌼 Put out a bee bar! A shallow dish of water with some little rocks makes the perfect pit stop for a thirsty bee on the go.
🌻 Plant, plant, plant! Flowers = food for bees. The more we plant, the more we help them—and our gardens will thank us too.
❌ Say no to sprays! Pesticides hurt bees, butterflies, and ladybugs. Let’s keep our gardens a no-poison zone.
🚫🐝 Look but don’t touch! Bees won’t bother us if we give them space. So admire them from afar and let them do their important work in peace.
Here’s to the bees—small but mighty, sweet and stripey! 🐝💛

Today, the Junior Inventors had an exciting excursion to The Basin Free Food Project 🍎

The children had the opportunity to explore the vibrant garden, where they discovered a variety of vegetables growing in the soil. They were thrilled to try fresh tomatoes, crisp asparagus, and carrots, and even got to pick their own chillies to take home!
The sensory experience continued as the children were able to smell the different fragrances of the rosemary and fresh limes, learning about the many plants in the garden. Afterward, the children put on their gloves and masks to plant their own bean seeds, which they carefully watered and will be able to take home.

As a special treat, they also planted garlic in the garden, learning about the life cycle of plants and how their food grows. It was a wonderful day filled with hands-on learning, new experiences, and plenty of smiles!

This year we have begun collaborating with Ben’s Place, a charitable group that offers food assistance to members of the community and organizations based in The Basin.

Today the Junior Inventors made their way into the local community to visit Ben’s Place, located at The Basin Senior Citizens Centre.
Over the past few weeks, we have collected donations of non perishable foods, clothes, nappies and other goods. The children were able to deliver these items to Ben’s Place to assist the local community, and those in need. ♥️
Ben’s Place is accessible to all those living within the local area, and support those in need through collected donations. The Junior Inventors were able to assist the incredible volunteers, and help with the hand out of food. We are very grateful for the opportunity to visit Ben’s Place today, and look forward to revisiting with more donations on regular visits ♥️
