Over the last two weeks our Girls and Boys under 16’s soccer teams have proudly represented St Paul’s in the Lauren Colthorpe and Col Whitney Cup finals. While this was an achievement, being the first time the school has participated in the competitions. Our Boys’ team unfortunately went down to St Mary’s in our first game but bounced back in the second game to win 2-1 over Glendale Technology High School to secure 3rd place overall. Our Girls team managed to make the final after defeating St Mary’s in the semifinal. Unfortunately, our Girls went down to defending Champions Warners Bay High in the final to finish in 2nd place. Organizers and rival coaches both commended our students on the way they approached the competition as they represented the school with great pride and showcased the values that the competition was founded on. Congratulations to both teams and we will be back next year hoping to go one better.

On Thursday and Friday of last week Year 9 students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award completed their first expedition. Students walked the Bouddi Coastal Track, a 10km hike consisting of beach and track walking across steep terrain.
Students were required to carry all equipment including tents, food and water - with packs weighing up to 15kg!
Congratulations to all students who completed the hike with success. We now look forward to their upcoming test expedition.

Year 7 Gets Wild About Science!

Last week, our Year 7 Science students swapped the classroom for the great outdoors with an exciting visit to Hunter Valley Wildlife Park!

With plenty of animals to see, students had the chance to put their learning about cells, classification and the diversity of life into practice. From comparing animal features to working out what makes different species similar or different, students were busy thinking like scientists - with a few very furry, feathered and scaly helpers along the way!

The excursion will also provide valuable real-world observations for our upcoming Cells and Classification Depth Study, where students will investigate how scientists classify and organise the amazing variety of living things on Earth.

It was fantastic to see Year 7 so curious and enthusiastic throughout the day. There was certainly no shortage of questions, smiles and animal encounters - and perhaps a few students who now think a career working with wildlife sounds pretty appealing!

Stories, culture and creativity!
St Paul's came alive yesterday for Book Week & Indigenous Literacy Day, with students and staff embracing the magic of storytelling through our colourful costume parade and a very special performance from our Boys’ Didgeridoo Group, who shared a story through the power of music and sound. From favourite characters to the rich tradition of Indigenous storytelling, it was a wonderful reminder that stories connect us, inspire us and help us see the world through different eyes!
