A Wonderful end to winter. We had some university aviation students visit the club today for AEF's, and what a day it turned on for them. The conditions were ideal for them good thermals in the 4 -8 knot range with students getting sometimes there first experience of thermal flight and they did well. So great to have so many of them vistit the club and we look forward to a repeat visit in the future.

What a mixed weekend. Saturday was well over developed not much of a gliding day let alone a soaring day. But Sunday was completely different plenty of Cu. Good lift to 5,500' in places the forecast change didn't really eventuate. Of course I took a camera with a flat battery. So instead I've posted some images courtesy of Pavel. Gliding can be social when we thermal with others or lead and follow. Sometimes when its overcast there are still sufficient thermals to sustyain soaring flight but when it starts to rain on us we tend to return to base. You never know what you are going to get. Each flight is different.

At last some Cu. We weren't all that busy Saturday, but Tom and Raimana had good flights to around 4,000' in 4 - 6 kts....

At last some Cu. We weren't all that busy Saturday, but Tom and Raimana had good flights to around 4,000' in 4 - 6 kts. There was some good winter streeting which was a very nice change from the blue days. All we were missing was a few more students, and mebers taking advantage of the gentle winter thermal.

After mild typical winters conditions a fortnight ago this weekend was another blue sky weekend. Perfect conditions for passenger flights with great visibility, difficult to work lift for the club members. A few managed to have soaring flights, Jeremy, John and Eddy. Jamie was the only student Saturday so he had the instructors to himself. A great time for new students, no better time to learn to fly.

Last week we had a blue day with limited lift, but it was still a great day to introduce some visitors to gliding. This week had a little more cloud and some rain so again not very thermic but whilst members had some circuit practice some of the instructor group had recurrent training and others worked on trailer maintence. Theres always a lot to do around the club. As you can see the visitors had a great time.

To be honest Sunday wasn't a soaring day, far too much low overdevelopment, but it was a great day for introducing friends and family to our sport. You know they are loving it when you can see the smiles from the back seat. You know they are relaxed when they wave to the ground crew on landing, and help with the retrieve.
