It’s been a week, so it feels like the perfect time to reflect on what was a pretty magical day in Bendigo!

We took 13 students along to compete in the District Athletics competition against schools from across our area.

Days like these are first and foremost about having fun, having a go, experiencing something new and doing your best – and we were incredibly proud of the way every one of our students represented Bolinda.

We also had some amazing results! 🌟

🥇 Our 9/10 Boys 4 x 100m Relay Team came FIRST in a brilliant time of 1:09.96! This one was particularly special. The boys had been training incredibly hard for weeks, giving up recesses and lunchtimes – often in absolutely freezing conditions! Seeing all that hard work pay off was fantastic.

Ethan had a huge day, jumping 3.34m in Long Jump to finish 4th, before running 16.43 seconds in the 100m to claim 2nd place! 🥈

William produced a terrific run in the 200m, finishing in 36.14 seconds to also take 2nd place! 🥈

👏 Our 12/13 Girls 4 x 100m Relay Team finished an excellent 4th – an even more impressive effort considering one member of the team was a Year 3 student competing above her age group!

And then there was Ollie, who had an extraordinary day in the field events…

🥇 1st – Discus: 20.61m
🥇 1st – Shot Put: 7.04m

District champion in BOTH events! These results also mean Ollie now progresses to the Divisional Athletics competition, where he’ll represent Bolinda at the next level. We can’t wait to cheer him on!

But what I can’t show you in a Facebook post is the effort these children put in to get there.

Ribbons and placings are wonderful, and sometimes they’re a great reward for all that hard work. But sport doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes you train just as hard, give absolutely everything you have, and there isn’t a ribbon waiting for you at the end.

That’s why, as Principal, I am so proud of this entire group of 13 children. They had a go, supported one another, celebrated each other’s successes and represented our school with so much pride.

The results were fantastic, but the way they represented Bolinda was even better.

🌿 LOOKING BACK

Every child's journey is different.

When Monty stood on stage at his Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony, the memories he chose to share weren't about experiences or academic results.

They were about friendship.

Thank you, Monty, for allowing us to share part of your story.

FREE TO A GOOD HOME – AGAVE PLANTS & FENCING WIRE

Bolinda Primary School is doing a bit of a tidy-up around our grounds and we have some items available free to anyone who can make use of them.

We have:

• A number of established Foxtail Agave plants
• Rolls/lengths of steel fencing wire

Everything is free – we’d much rather see it reused than go to waste.

Collection is from Bolinda Primary School. If you’re interested, please send the school page a message to arrange collection.

Feel free to share with anyone who might be able to put them to good use!

🌿 LOOKING BACK

Every child's journey is unique.

William joined Bolinda during the later years of primary school.

At his graduation, he reflected on the opportunities he found, the confidence he gained and the experiences that shaped his time here.

Thank you, William, for allowing us to share part of your story.

Although Schools Tree Day was back on 24 July, we finally had the chance to take part today.

Our Junior Landcare students planted a range of donated native plants around the school, helping to add more greenery to our grounds while learning about the importance of caring for our environment.

A big thank you to Julie from Landcare for spending the morning with our students and sharing her knowledge. We'd also like to thank DEECA's More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West program for generously donating the plants.

We look forward to watching them grow over the years ahead! 🌿💚

Procedural writing never tasted so good!

Our Year 3/4 students have been learning all about procedural writing—how to write clear, step-by-step instructions.

So, what better way to put their writing into practice than by writing a recipe for pancakes… and then following it to make them!

After writing their recipes, students put them to the test by making their own pancakes. It was a fun way to bring literacy learning to life—and the pancakes were a pretty tasty reward too!

🌱 Our school garden has been growing beautifully over the winter months, and it’s been wonderful to see our students taking such an interest in it.

Many students have been spending time in the garden during recess and lunch, checking on the plants and watching them grow. It’s been fantastic to see the pride they take in caring for the garden and celebrating its progress.

🥕 After harvesting an incredible 38kg of produce over summer, we’re hopeful our winter harvest might get close to that total.

🌿 At the moment, our garden is filled with:
🧄 Wild garlic
🥦 Broccoli
🫛 Broad beans
🥬 Cabbage
❤️ Beets
🌱 Peas
🌿 Radishes
🥗 Rocket salad

We can’t wait to see what our winter harvest brings!

We can finally say it... IT'S HAPPENING! 🎉

From Monday, Before and After School Care officially begins at Bolinda Primary School!

This has been a goal for our school community for a long time, so it's hard to put into words how exciting it is to finally see it become a reality.

There have been plenty of conversations, meetings, paperwork and planning behind the scenes to get us here.

We can't wait to welcome our first children through the doors on Monday and see this new chapter begin.

To our Bolinda families, keep an eye on Compass and your emails for enrolment and booking information.

Here's to making mornings a little easier, afternoons a little less rushed, and creating another great space for our students to laugh, play and belong.

What an exciting week for Bolinda Primary School!

🌿 LOOKING BACK

Every year, our Grade 6 students write and deliver a speech reflecting on their time at Bolinda Primary School.

We don't tell them what to write.

We don't edit their words.

We simply ask them to reflect on the people, moments and experiences that shaped their primary school journey.

Over the coming months, we'd love to share some of those reflections with you.

Not because they tell you about our school...

But because they tell you what mattered most to the children who experienced it.

Today, we begin with Rosie's story.

One of those moments that makes you smile...

Some of our students discovered the chess sets today and decided the winter sunshine was the perfect place for a game.

Watching them teach each other, encourage one another and quietly think through each move was a lovely reminder that play comes in all forms.

Whether it's running, creating, building or playing chess, it's wonderful to see our students spending their breaks doing what they enjoy.
