π±π¨ Our Year 7 Technology classes, 7TEC1 and 7TEC2, have been combining creativity, sustainability, and hands-on learning as part of their Agriculture and Environmental Sustainability unit.
Last week, students planted coriander and parsley seeds and have been carefully watering them, monitoring their growth, and learning about the conditions plants need to thrive. This week, they began preparing recycled plastic bottles that will soon become their very own plant pots.
Using paint, markers, and plenty of imagination, students transformed old bottles into colourful creations featuring flowers, characters, patterns, and unique designs. This engaging activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility while demonstrating how everyday items can be repurposed and given a second life. β»οΈπ§βπ¨
Through projects like this, students are developing a greater understanding of sustainable practices and the importance of reducing waste, while also building practical gardening and design skills.
A fantastic effort by all students involved! π We are excited to see their seedlings continue to grow and to watch them transfer their plants into their beautifully decorated pots in the coming weeks. πΏπ±β¨

πΈ Boysβ Mentoring Program
Our Year 7 and 8 Boysβ Mentoring Program continues to provide valuable opportunities for students to develop practical life skills, build confidence, and strengthen positive relationships.
Led by our Boysβ Group Coordinator, Mr Tsitsios, the program brings together a selected group of students each week to learn important everyday skills and receive guidance, encouragement and support in a positive environment.
Throughout the year, students participate in a variety of hands-on activities including cooking, ironing, changing a tyre, tying a tie and many other practical life skills that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
Last week, the boys rolled up their sleeves in the kitchen, working together to prepare a delicious meal while developing teamwork, communication and cooking skills.
A special thank you to Mrs Rani for generously sharing her expertise and supporting our students during the cooking session. We are also incredibly grateful to the many staff members who contribute to this wonderful program.
Programs like these play an important role in helping our students grow into capable, respectful and confident young men, and we are proud to offer such meaningful opportunities at Evans High School. ππ

π¬π Exploring Future STEM Pathways
In week 4, a group of our Year 10 students travelled into Sydney to take part in an exciting STEM mentoring program, connecting with industry professionals working in STEM and Project Management fields.
Throughout the day, students met their mentors, began setting personal and professional goals, tackled collaborative challenges, and started working on a project that they will develop and present later this year in response to a real-world challenge.
This year-long program provides students with invaluable insight into future career pathways while building essential skills in teamwork, problem-solving, communication and innovation.
We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing this opportunity and look forward to following their journey as they continue to work alongside their mentors throughout the year.
π A fantastic HPGE opportunity, helping our students turn curiosity into capability and ideas into action.

π¨ Creativity Thrives in Our Evans Academies! π¨
As part of our Evans Academies and HPGE programs, the Art Studio provides students with the opportunity to extend their talents, explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.
From sculpture and ceramics to painting, drawing, colour theory and character design, students are engaging in a diverse range of artistic experiences that challenge their thinking and encourage creative expression. The Art Studio is a place where students can experiment, take creative risks and bring their ideas to life while connecting with others who share a passion for the visual arts.
A huge thank you to Ms Freeman for her dedication, expertise and commitment to guiding and mentoring our students within the Creative Domain. Through her passion for the arts, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, refine their skills and continue striving for excellence in their chosen creative pursuits.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, enthusiasm and talent on display each week. Opportunities such as the Art Studio are a wonderful example of how our Evans Academies and HPGE programs provide students with pathways to extend themselves, pursue their passions and reach their full potential. π¨β¨
