The MHSDC girlies absolutely dedicated to an amazing cause once again! We often practice including push ups as a form of strength training in our warm ups, but this one was to support https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/fundraisers/MHS

(we did these at a super slow half time pace - this video is sped up!) AND check out that killer form from senior dancers Beth & Charli 😍🤩

The Push-Up Challenge is Australia's largest mental health and fitness event. Each year, hundreds of thousands of Australians take up the challenge to complete a set number of push-ups that represent the number of lives lost to su***de in Australia in the most recent year of available data.

This challenge will run from the 3rd to the 26th of June, and students are encouraged to join our team through: https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/fundraisers/MHS.

This year, our school aims to complete 3,307 push-ups, so we would really appreciate your help! There are also several alternative exercises you can do if push-ups are not your thing (sit-ups, squats, step-ups, etc.).

Also, if possible, please donate to support The Push For Better Foundation (via the link above), which aims to engage and educate people on mental and physical health, raise awareness of mental health issues affecting everyday Australians, and foster mental wellbeing and fitness. Thank you!!

On Tuesday Mrs. Pares, with Mrs Morris, Mrs Thratthabeusy, Mr Debrincat from the HPGE Action Team members, led by Mr Chappuis attended the HPGE partner schools sharing event in Redfern. This was a wonderful opportunity to share with the other partner schools our journey in developing and growing HPGE@MHS. Our video, featuring many of our students in many of the wonderful programs running at Mitchell HS highlighted a lot of the opportunities we have here.

The NSW Government is committed to expanding high potential and gifted education (HPGE) opportunities in NSW public schools. This includes a multi-million-dollar investment into the HPGE Partner School Program. which we have previously shared with our community.

Under the program, Mitchell High School is receiving facility upgrades to accommodate increased enrolments, broaden educational opportunities and facilitate the delivery of tailored HPGE offerings. Currently the Industrial Arts rooms are under construction and will be followed by upgrades in the CAPA rooms in C-Block.

Chevonne was one of the fine young people who helped design this park when she was in Primary School in the Penrith Council area. Her and Ms Marinis can be seen in these photos for the opening today.
