🌏 International Mother Language Day – Saturday, 21st February 🌏
International Mother Language Day is a beautiful reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating the many languages and cultures around the world. Here in Australia, we are fortunate to be home to over 500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations and more than 750 unique language groups—each holding rich stories, traditions, and knowledge.
To honour this special day, our children have welcomed KAB’s newest baby doll, lovingly named John Alexander (a name chosen by the children themselves!). 💛
The children explored traditional Aboriginal practices by wrapping John Alexander in materials such as paperbark and twine, creating a natural nappy—just as Aboriginal families have done for generations to keep their babies clean, comfortable, and connected to the land.
Throughout the year, John Alexander will join the children in their rooms, taking part in experiences, activities, and learning moments. He’s already become a much‑loved companion, and the children couldn’t be more excited! 🧡
