Child Protection week is from the 7th -13th September.

Child abuse and neglect is preventable, and we all have a role to play.
The theme of National Protection Week 2025, ‘Shifting Conversation to Action’, speaks to the importance of working together to keep our kids safe. While it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless in the face of these issues, it’s important to remember that prevention has a domino effect: small actions snowball into broader change, and piece by piece we move towards communities that are safer for our children and young people.
As part of this event, NAPCAN has put together a wide range of events and resources to help you feel empowered about actions you can take to create safer communities for our children and young people.

Today we had the pleasure of celebrating Book Week at the Playhouse Devonport, welcoming educators and their children from Burnie, Sheffield, and the local Devonport area.
The Playhouse Devonport proved to be a wonderful venue for the occasion – a warm and welcoming space, run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Thanks, Trudy, for the suggestion of this venue.

Dental Health Week. Monday 4 – Sunday 10 August 2025
Theme: “Reach Every S-milestone”

Dental Health Week is a great reminder that healthy smiles start early—and every little step counts toward lifelong dental habits! 🦷✨
This year’s theme, “Reach Every S-milestone,” celebrates the small but important stages in every child’s oral health journey—from their first tooth to learning to brush all on their own.
Here are a few ways families can support their child’s smile at home:
🪥 Brush twice a day – even if it’s just a few tiny teeth!
🥛 Drink water over sugary drinks
🧃 Keep snacks tooth-friendly – think fruit, cheese, or veggie sticks
📚 Read fun books about brushing teeth – stories make it stick!
🦷 Talk about the dentist in a positive way – to build confidence

Helping children reach each “S-milestone” sets them up for confident, healthy smiles now and in the future. 😄

📚✨ Book Week is Fast Approaching! ✨📚

August 16–23 | Theme: “Book an Adventure”

Book Week 2025 is just around the corner—and it’s a wonderful chance to celebrate reading, imagination, and adventure with your little ones at home! 🌟
Here are some fun and simple ways your family can get involved:

👗 Plan a costume together
No need for anything fancy—think about your child’s favourite book and create a costume from what you already have at home. Pirates, animals, explorers, fairies, or even a DIY cape can all bring stories to life!

📖 Read a new book each day
Visit your local library or swap with friends—try something new or revisit an old favourite. Let your child pick the “adventure” each night!

🎨 Get crafty with a story
Draw your favourite character, make a paper book, or build a scene from a story using blocks or recycled materials.

Let’s make Book Week a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and fun—one page at a time!
