🔥 HOT FLUSHES & MENOPAUSE — WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
Ladies, if you suddenly feel like someone has turned the heater on inside your body… you’re definitely not alone! 😅🔥
During perimenopause and menopause, changing levels of oestrogen can affect the way our body regulates temperature. This can trigger those sudden waves of heat we know as hot flushes, sometimes with sweating, a racing heartbeat or night sweats.
But menopause isn’t only about hot flushes.
As oestrogen levels fall, women can also experience a reduction in bone density and muscle strength, which makes looking after our bones, spine, balance and strength even more important as we get older. (Healthy Bones Australia)
💚 This is where regular movement comes in.
Clinical Pilates, resistance exercise, balance work and weight-bearing activity can help us maintain strength, mobility, posture and confidence through midlife and beyond.
Pilates isn’t a treatment for hot flushes themselves — but staying active is an important part of overall health during menopause. The Australasian Menopause Society also recommends regular exercise for the broader physical and mental health benefits of midlife women. (Menopause Hub)
So ladies 40+…
🔥 Hot flush? Fan on.
💪 Bones and muscles? Keep them moving.
💚 Spine? Keep it strong.
Menopause is another stage of life — and we can prepare our bodies to stay strong through it.

🔥 1 — WHY THE HOT FLUSH?
During menopause, changing oestrogen levels can affect the hypothalamus — our brain’s temperature-control centre.
Suddenly your brain thinks…
🚨 “TOO HOT!”
🔥💦 Hello hot flush!
—
🦴 2 — BUT MENOPAUSE ALSO AFFECTS OUR BONES
Oestrogen helps maintain bone strength.
As oestrogen declines, women can lose bone density and bone strength.
So after 40, we need to think about more than the hot flush. 💚
