🌸🌱 “We don’t have any flowers!” 🌱🌸

Our little gardeners noticed that our garden was missing some beautiful flowers, and they came up with a wonderful idea — let’s plant some! 🌼

The children worked together to prepare the garden, explore the soil, plant seeds and care for our new flowers. Through this experience, they developed their curiosity, creativity and sense of responsibility as they learned that plants need love, water and patience to grow. 💧🌱

Gardening provides so many opportunities for learning — children are building fine motor skills, strengthening teamwork, developing problem-solving skills and connecting with nature. They are also learning about the life cycle of plants, sustainability and the importance of caring for our environment. 🌍

We can’t wait to watch our garden grow and see the beautiful flowers that bloom from the children’s care and dedication. 🌺✨

🐣 Chicken Hatching Program 🐣

This week our children were very excited to welcome some very special new friends into their room as part of our Chicken Hatching Program!

Henny Penny visited us on Monday to help set up the chicks’ enclosure and incubator, while teaching the children all about the life cycle of chickens and how eggs hatch.
We were lucky to have two baby chicks already hatched and ready for cuddles, along with 13 eggs waiting patiently in the incubator.

The children have loved observing the eggs closely, watching them twitch, crack and eventually hatch into fluffy little chicks. This hands-on experience has created so many wonderful learning opportunities, including patience, responsibility, empathy, and an understanding of how living things grow and change.

There has been so much excitement, curiosity, and joy throughout the week, and we can’t wait to continue watching our little chicks grow! 💛🐥

🚦 Road Safety Week 🚦

This week the children have been learning all about staying safe on the roads through fun and engaging experiences! We created our own traffic lights and road safety signs, explored what different signs mean, and practiced stopping and going while playing “Red Light, Green Light” 🚗🛑🟢

Through play, conversations, and hands-on activities, the children are developing their understanding of road safety, listening skills, and awareness of the world around them. We loved seeing their creativity and enthusiasm throughout the week! ❤️

✨ Community involvement ✨

Throughout the month of April our children were treated to several stories times, 2 that really stood out was Ms Rachal from Blackburn library and Ms Linda.

Ms Rachal came and read several stories to our kinder children, asking lots of engaging questions and receiving interesting answers. Ms Rachal showed the children her library card and explained how they could get one of their own. Thank you for coming Ms Rachal.

Ms Linda is a local author in Blackburn and she came and read her new book 'veggie trouble'. Her story was all about how little Chloe wouldn't eat her vegetables and her mum was explaining how each vegetable does different things for your body, e.g." carrots make you see better". Linda finished of by introducing the children to all different types, shapes and colors of vegetables.

We love being able to involve our community in our centre and the children love having the opportunity for different experiences.

👩‍⚕️ Nurse Incursion 👩‍⚕️

Yesterday we had the opportunity to learn more about one of our amazing parents profession. The children all got to explore and investigate different tools that nurses use and how they use them. A few of our children had an injury that needed bandaging, Ms. Nirosha also needed some first aid.

The children got the opportunity to listen to their own heart beats using a stethoscope and concentrate drawing saline into a plastic syringe.

We just love having the opportunity to connect with our families and community on a deeper and inclusive level 🩵
