BLPS Parent’s Association Social Media Guidelines
The information below has been drafted by the BLPS Parent’s Association (BLPS PA) to provide guidance to the BLPS community on:
1. the code of conduct that the page operates under; and
3. to establish a common understanding and expectation of its value and context within the broader school communication mediums. Responsibility for the man
agement of the page:
The management of the Parent’s Association page will be the joint responsibility of two active and current members of the BLPS Parent’s Association. The other member has the responsibility of updating of the content of the page (the Editor). Security Settings:
The BLPS Parent’s Association page can be established as an open page which allows anyone to join the page and follow its posts, or as a closed group (where member access is restricted and attained through invitation). (The current BLPS page was established in 2011, with and security settings were established at the time). Any members of the BLPS PA who has administration or editor access to the page are responsible for keeping their Facebook login secure to ensure that the possibility that the BLPS page is not hacked. It is noted that these security settings can be changed at any time. The BLPS Parent’s Association has the right to change security settings without communicating these to the members that follow the page. The nominated administrators/editors of the page will regularly review comments and feedback from the community. The administrators have the right to delete:
• language/comments/content that is offensive, rude, threatening, abusive, defamatory, indecent, harassing, racist, bullying, unlawful or infringes on someone’s intellectual property rights.
• pictures of other people who have not given their consent for a picture of them to be uploaded. The administrators/editors have a right to block the access of a member if they:
• are misusing the page;
• post comments or content which is offensive, rude, threatening or unlawful;
• are engaging in suspicious activity; and/or
• are using the page for a personal gain/advantage. We will remove any content that may put us (or you) in legal jeopardy. This includes potentially defamatory comments, material or links posted in potential breach of copyright and includes offensive profile pictures that contain profanities or indecent imagery. Examples of information that could be published:
Note that the PA page has not been endorsed by Blackburn Lake Primary School. However, examples of what may be published on the PA page are as follows:
• School term dates and curriculum day notifications;
• Reminders for fundraising activities;
• Information sharing relating to school events (free dress days, foodie days, school production, bi-annual fete);
• Parents Association meeting reminders;
• Reminders when payments fall due;
• Information on access to booking arrangements - i.e. parent/teacher interviews, school production tickets;
• Excursion information; and
• Source for seeking volunteers for school activities;
Examples of information that will not be published:
• Dates and times of events. Instead, reminders of events can be shared on the page. Should further information be required, the member is encouraged to private message the BLPS PA, where identification can be verified before event details are shared.
• Pictures or videos of students, parents, guardians, friends where the identity of the person is obviously known from the content.
• Content that is promoting the individual achievements of a person. Responsibilities of our members:
Treat our page as though you are in the same room with a group of friends. Be mindful of others and their opinions. We will not tolerate indecent behaviour. As per the guidelines stated above, if you post something of this nature, your post will be deleted and you may be blocked from the page. We welcome considered debate, and understand that there will be differences of opinion on occasions, but personal attacks (on authors, administrator, other individuals), trolling and abuse will not be tolerated. Our annual art show is close and it's time to purchase your red dots for your child's artwork.
HOW TO PURCHASE RED DOTS
YOU ONLY NEED TO PAY $5 ONCE. Red Dots cost $5 per student, whether they have one or more pieces of Art on display.
For families with more than one student, please place separate orders by purchasing a red dot under EACH child’s name in Compass Canteen. Place these orders by selecting the order date as Thursday 21st May.
All online orders CLOSE at midday (12pm) Wednesday 20th May.
The classroom teacher will hand out the red dots and the kids will get the opportunity to place the dots on their artwork during the school day on Thursday 21st May.
IMPORTANT
NO cash or credit card payments will be accepted on the night of the Art Show.
If you miss the Compass deadline prior to the show, you can buy red dots from Monday 25th May via the office.
