Year 11 Visual Arts students visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Students were encouraged to play at Mike Hewson’s “The Key’s under the mat” where the artist has created an underground social sculpture that enticed students to climb and swing on the artworks. They were so fortunate to meet an artist in residence in the artist studio hovel- Sydney -Eora based artist, Philippa Hagon who explained her art making process to our students.

Our students then got to see the exhibition “And Still I Rise” which exhibited a group of culturally diverse female artists that included western Sydney artists and subject matter. We finished the day making cardboard fruit for a collaboration with artist Mechelle Bounpraseuth called “Sou Sou”. Bounpraseuth’s large scale fruits and foods demonstrated to the girls how artists connect culture and home to their art making.

What a delicious way to celebrate the end of Education Week at Birrong Girls High School!

A huge congratulations to all the students and teachers who entered our TAS Cake Competition. We were blown away by the creativity, effort and delicious designs on display!

🏆 1st Place: Hannah G. – Year 8
🥈 2nd Place: Sophia E. – Year 8
🥉 3rd Place: Aaysha A. – Year 11

Our cakes were judged on looks, taste and effort, and our winners certainly impressed the judges!

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the competition such a sweet success!

What an incredible experience taking 15 of our students to see Laufey live! The students had an amazing night enjoying the music, sharing the experience with their friends and making memories they will never forget. 💙🎤

🌿 Growing a Greener Birrong! 🌿

As part of Education Week, our Environmental Team planted a beautiful selection of shrubs and greenery in the school’s Common Area garden. 🌱

Students worked together to improve our school environment and create a welcoming green space for everyone to enjoy. Their efforts demonstrate teamwork, environmental responsibility and pride in our school community.

We look forward to watching our garden grow! 💚🌏

Year 10 students participated in the ‘Interview 2 Impress’ program hosted by ABCN in collaboration with their partners at RSM Australia. They engaged in mock interviews where they received feedback from their mentors, who have had experience with leading job interviews . All students left with a clear understanding of how to approach interviews with confidence and the skills they needed to demonstrate to stand out.

Thanks to all the students and staff who participated in the education week basketball game. It was a riveting competition with Mr Saule's height doing wonders for the staff defence and the accuracy of the student's shots making it a very tough game.

The staff came out on top (thank goodness) with a 9-6 lead. Sportsmanship and enjoyment were the real winners of the game.
