Today we celebrate all the wonderful dads and father figures in our Birrong PS community.

To the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, carers, mentors and special people who love, support, encourage and guide our children — thank you for all that you do. 💙

Father’s Day can look different for every family, and we recognise and celebrate the many people who step up to play an important “Dad” role in a child’s life.

We hope today is filled with love, laughter, family, and perhaps a little bit of well-deserved spoiling! 🥰

It’s tomorrow! Our P&C has worked incredibly hard to bring the Father’s Day stall to Birrong!

Next Thursday, our wonderful P&C are holding a Father’s Day stall! Students can choose a special gift for their dads or father figures. Thank you to our P&C for organising this event. Don’t forget to bring some money and join the fun! 💛⭐

💫🏃‍♂️ Fun at the K-2 Athletics Carnival! 🏃‍♂️💫

Today K-2 had a lot of fun under the sun by participating in their very own Athletics Carnival! The students demonstrated their sportsmanship and athletic skills by engaging in various activities such as running races, ball games, Rob the Nest, shot put, vortex throwing and more!
Throughout it all, we loved seeing our students show school spirit by trying their best and cheering their peers on!

Congratulations to all our little athletes for their fantastic efforts today. Thank you as well to our staff who all made this event possible, and to our amazing community for their continuous support and cheers throughout the day. 👏🏅

3 Galah have been developing their drama skills using string puppets! These puppets have joints that allow movement, controlled by strings held by the puppeteers.

Students explore their puppet's character and decide on unique voices. They work together to write short plays and perform them in front of the class. We have also been learning about being respectful and supportive audience members during performances. 🎭

This week, Kindergarten Joey and 5/6 Grevillea participated in another buddy session where they read stories, sharpened their comprehension skills and had a blast with literacy games. Learning is always better with a friend. 📚😊

💫📖 Book Week at BPS! 📖💫

Last week, Kindergarten celebrated Book Week by participating in a virtual incursion with Sydney-based author and illustrator Sheena Garg. Hosted by The State Library of New South Wales, the students got to listen to Sheena read her book ‘The Best Rangoli Ever’ before being guided to create their own rangoli artwork.

The incursion was a wonderful experience for our young readers to connect with a real-life author, learn about a different culture and celebrate their love for stories! 📚💛

💛 SASS Appreciation Week 💛

This week we celebrate the incredible School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) who contribute so much to Birrong Public School each and every day.

To our School Administration Manager and School Administration Officers – thank you for keeping the many moving parts of our school moving! From supporting students and families to first aid, administration, organisation, problem-solving and the countless unexpected things that arise each day, you help keep our school welcoming, organised and running smoothly.

To our School Learning Support Officers – thank you for the care, patience and commitment you show our students. You work alongside our teachers and students to support learning and wellbeing, build confidence and relationships, and quietly help make so many successes possible.

And to our General Assistant – thank you for keeping our school safe, functional and looking its best. From fixing, moving and maintaining things to responding to the inevitable “Could you just…?”, your contribution is appreciated every single day!

To our entire SASS team, thank you for everything you do – both the work everyone sees and the important work that happens quietly behind the scenes.

You are an essential part of the heart of Birrong Public School, and this week we celebrate you. 💛🖤
