Our Year 10 students took part in the Road Accident Prevention (RAP) program this week, presented by Mike, a former BHS graduate who now works for the MFS.

Our Year 10's were incredibly respectful and engaged throughout the session, particularly while hearing from Eli Murn, who shared his experience of being involved in a high-speed crash as a young athlete. This crash left Eli with an acquired brain injury and mobility issues, and he had to relearn how to walk, talk, eat and care for himself.

A big thank you to Mike and Eli for sharing such an important message, and to Mr Hollands for organising the session for our students.

Our Year 11 students will continue this important road safety education and learning about the consequences of risk-taking on the road when they head to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for RAA Street Smart.

Great news for families!
From 2027, South Australian families will no longer be required to pay the universal materials and services charge, with the State Government funding schools to ensure they are not financially disadvantaged. Families will still pay for items such as uniforms, digital devices, optional excursions and some optional subject fees.

For more information, the attached letter from the Department for Education has been sent to our school families today:https://www.birdwoodhs.sa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/R-12-schools-materials-and-services-charge-information.pdf

📚What a great day Friday was for our inaugural Book Week Parade!

It was fantastic to see so many students and staff put so much effort into their costumes and bring their favourite book characters to life. The judges certainly had a tough job!

A massive shout out to Ms Trowbridge for getting the parade off the ground. Congratulations to all our winners and well done to Lee for taking home maximum points towards the Spirit Cupđź’š

We’re already looking forward to next year! 📖
