We’re so excited to share something special with our community this Book Week.

Our Nurture Early Learning children have been busy exploring Belonging and Identity through art and their creativity is now on display at the Biloela Library!

Pop in between 24–29 August to wander through the exhibition, enjoy the colourful atmosphere, and celebrate the voices, stories, and imagination of our young artists.

Thank you to Banana Shire Libraries for partnering with us to showcase this beautiful collection of children’s work. We hope you all enjoy the art exhibition.

🎭 Room on the Broom – A Wonderful Day in Gladstone! 🚌✨

Last Wednesday, our Nurture Kindy children headed off on a very special excursion to Gladstone to experience the live stage production of Room on the Broom — and what a wonderful experience it was!

There is something pretty magical about seeing a much-loved story come to life on stage. Live theatre gives children the opportunity to experience storytelling, music and performance in a completely different way, sparking imagination, creativity, language and a love of stories. It also provides valuable opportunities to build confidence and experience the wider community together.

We were incredibly proud of our children, who represented Nurture beautifully throughout the day. 💚

A huge thank you to the wonderful parents and grandparent who joined us for the trip. We are very grateful for the time you gave to help make the day such a positive experience for everyone.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Mauger Earthmoving – Brice and Hannah – who generously sponsored the entire excursion, covering both our theatre tickets and bus hire. 🚌🎟️

Their generosity meant we could provide this experience for our children while directing those funds towards additional resources and learning opportunities within our service. We feel incredibly fortunate to have local businesses willing to support our children and invest back into their community. 🌿

A very big thank you to Mauger Earthmoving for delivering two huge tyres to Nurture today!

We are so grateful to Hannah, Brice and the team for their generous support, donating the tyres, their equipment, time and manpower to site them.

To say the children loved them is an understatement! Whether climbing, balancing, construction or imaginative play, we can’t wait to see the wonderful ideas the children will bring.

We feel incredibly fortunate to be supported by local businesses and families who value children, play and connection within our community. Thank you for helping us continue to create meaningful and engaging spaces for our children to explore, learn and grow. 😊

We've been a little quiet on Facebook lately, but we've certainly been busy at Nurture Early Learning!

Over the past few weeks, our children have been learning, exploring, creating and connecting through a range of meaningful experiences both within our centre and throughout the wider community.

Recently, we welcomed Mark from Deadly Australians, who shared his knowledge of Australia's fascinating wildlife. Children learned about snakes, spiders, crocodiles and marine animals while exploring important safety messages and developing a deeper appreciation for our unique native animals. Meeting a blue-tongue lizard, turtle and carpet python was a definite highlight.

Our Bush Kindy adventurers are enjoying visiting the culturally significant Dangama Mungar (Mount Scoria), where they learn about Gangulu Dreaming stories, explore ancient volcanic rock formations and connect with nature through hands-on discovery and play.

We were also privileged to host Jordan and the Warama Cultural Group, who shared Aboriginal culture, traditions and knowledge through ochre painting, corroboree dancing, boomerang throwing, traditional artefacts and fire-making demonstrations. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for children to develop respect, understanding and appreciation for First Nations cultures.

During Pyjama Week, children enjoyed a Teddy Bear Picnic and a delicious Pancake Breakfast while helping raise funds for The Pyjama Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful families, we were proud to donate $130 to support children in foster care.

Back in our learning spaces, children's interests continue to inspire and guide our program. Recently, we have been exploring space and planets, dam construction and engineering, fishing and waterways, insects and wildlife, caring for our environment, building with magnetic tiles, large-scale block constructions and a variety of creative art mediums as we prepare for our upcoming Book Week Art Display at the local library.

We are also excited to have launched our new OWNA Library, where families can borrow our Little Birdie Take-Home Story Bags to enjoy reading and learning together at home.

Every day at Nurture is filled with opportunities for children to build confidence, curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. We are incredibly proud of our children and grateful for the support of our families and community, who help make these rich learning experiences possible.

Today we celebrate something incredibly important in childhood… PLAY!

This year’s theme, “Protect Play, Protect Childhood,” is one that resonates deeply with us at Nurture Early Learning. We know that play is not “extra” in childhood — it is childhood.

Through play, children explore, imagine, problem-solve, build friendships, test ideas, take risks, develop confidence and make sense of the world around them.

Whether it’s climbing trees, creating potions in the mud kitchen, building cubbies, painting masterpieces, caring for our garden, engaging in dramatic play or simply sharing giggles with friends — these moments matter deeply. 💚

Play supports children’s learning across every area of development and lays the foundations for creativity, resilience, wellbeing and lifelong learning.

About You
I
You will ideally hold (or be working towards):

• Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
• Current Blue Card
• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification
• Child Protection Training, or willingness to complete within 14 days of commencing employment

You will also:

• Have a genuine passion for working with children
• Be reliable and dependable
• Be a positive team player
• Show initiative and willingness to contribute to our service culture
• Value relationships with children, families and the wider community

We are excited to share with you a very special milestone for our Nurture community our brand-new Nurture uniform.

For some time, it has been a heartfelt goal at our centre to create a uniform that reflects our values, strengthens our sense of community, and honours the Country on which we live, learn, and grow. At Nurture, we believe that a uniform fosters a strong sense of belonging and unity, aligning closely with our centre’s personal philosophy, as well as the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), which guide our practice and support children’s learning, identity, and connection to community.

As part of this journey, we wanted our uniform to do more than simply identify us, it needed to respect and celebrate the First Nations people of the land we share, the Gangulu people. Each morning, during our yarning circle, we acknowledge Country and recognise one of the Gangulu totems, the white-crested cockatoo, which also holds special meaning within our Biloela community.

Our Kindy children regularly visit Dangama Mungar (Mt Scoria) through our bush kindy program, where they connect with Country in meaningful ways. They also learn about Gujunara, the carpet snake, another important Gangulu totem and spiritual brother - deepening their understanding and respect for the land and its cultural significance.

To ensure authenticity and respect, we collaborated with Wayne Martin, a talented Maranganji and Mardigan artist from Cunnamulla. Wayne has a strong connection to our community and a passion for sharing Aboriginal culture with young people. He created a beautiful and meaningful artwork featuring the white-crested cockatoo, “Biloela,” protected by the sacred carpet snake, “Gujunara.” This artwork holds deep cultural significance and will also be proudly displayed within our centre.

Working alongside a graphic designer and C2C, we have brought this artwork to life as part of our new uniform design. The finished product reflects our commitment to cultural respect, community connection, and learning on Country.

We are proud to offer our staff the new Nurture uniform in our signature green, as well as blue and purple options. This has been a long and meaningful journey, and we are so proud of what has been created.
