Bernies Brain 06/06/2016

"Hi everyone,

My name is Chanelle McGuckin, my father Bernie/Bernard McGuckin graduated from Kogarah Marist in 1973. I’m hoping to reach out to peers/teachers that he associated with in this time.
Dad is battling cancer now for the fourth time and we need your help. All donations will go directly to his treatments, possibly in the US as it is unavailable here. Any surplus will be given to Lifehouse RPAH.

He is unaware of the campaign so please send your thoughts and support through myself, my mum or through chuffed for the meantime.

If you know someone else that may know him please share this along.

Appreciate it and thanks in advanced."

Got this message last week. Positive feedback is important and there should be more of it (at school and in the work place). Good work boys for making a good impression on this member of the public

Mr Michael Filtz Passing.

"It is with deep sadness my father / MCK Teacher / inspiration - Michael Filtz (68 years old) passed away Sunday 14th February 2016 at 11.20am

He was an absolute trooper and loved by many. He will be dearly missed not just by mum / wife (Maree), daughter/ sister (Gabrielle) and myself but he will be missed by many friends and family in the USA and Australia.

Michael always put family and friends first. He mentored and taught many students from Marist College Kogarah between the years 1970 - 2007 (including myself in 1996 and some of which have now become teachers currently at the school).

Michael is currently still the longest serving teacher at MCK to date on records.

Miss you dad / Michael and thank you for your loyal 37 years at MCK.

Regards
Brad Filtz"

On behalf of the MCK community, our thoughts and prayers are with the Filtz family. We thank Michael for inspiring many peoples lives and for his loyal service to the College. May he rest in peace.
