Watson Street West Closure

Big Build Roads, together with Ace Infrastructure, is delivering the Northern Highway Intersection Upgrade in Wallan. The project will improve traffic flow and make the area safer and more efficient for everyone.

As part of the next stage of works, Watson Street (west) between High Street and Wellington Street will be closed to traffic from 7pm Sunday 28 June 2026 to 5am Monday 20 July 2026.

During this time, crews will continue building the western side of the upgraded intersection and construct new lanes on Watson Street. Vehicles will not be able to travel through this section of Watson Street while works are underway.

We understand that some school bus services may use Watson Street as part of their route. During the closure, buses and other vehicles will need to follow the signed detour via Queen Street and Wellington Street.

We encourage schools and bus operators to review their routes and allow extra travel time during this period. Delays of up to five minutes are expected.

These works are weather dependent. If dates need to change, we will keep you informed.

A copy of the detour map is attached for your information. Please share this information with relevant staff and any school bus operators that service your school.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we deliver these important improvements for the Wallan community.

Yesterday our students enjoyed a wonderful Didgeridoo performance by Ganga from First Nation Incursions to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
It was also a special moment as this was our students’ first time gathering in our new Stadium. What a beautiful way to bring the space to life through culture, music and learning
