Attending the SKIF International Seminar in Ota-ku Tokyo Japan has been an extraordinary experience. Training alongside our SKIF family from around the world β€” with 29 countries represented and a strong team of 27 from Australia β€” was something truly special.

A huge congratulations to the three Australians who stepped up for their Dan examinations and all passed β€” a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for our country. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ₯‹

A very special shoutout to my longest-serving student, Athaide. Sienna started her karate journey with me at just 4Β½ years old β€” my youngest student at the time β€” and now, at 18, has successfully passed her Nidan grading. I couldn’t be prouder as a Sensei.

As many of you know, many begin their karate journey, but few show the dedication, perseverance, and resilience to see it through. Sienna, you’ve put in all the hard work over the years, and this achievement is so well deserved.

I’d also like to recognise Zadeh on grading to 6th Dan, and Sensei Tim Stephenson achieving 7th Dan β€” truly remarkable accomplishments and the pinnacle of years of dedication. Something to be incredibly proud of.

Now it’s time to enjoy it all β€” relax, take it in, and make the most of the rest of Japan knowing what you’ve achieved. A truly proud moment πŸ™

Congratulations to everyone who graded on Saturday, 13 December!
You should all be very proud of your efforts and your achievements. Every student showed true karate spirit, giving 100% effort throughout the grading. Your discipline, focus, and hard training clearly paid off β€” well done to you all.

To those who did not achieve a successful result this time: do not be discouraged. This is not a failure, but part of your journey. Keep training, stay committed, and show perseverance. With continued effort and determination, your time will come. Never give up β€” true karate is built on resilience. Oss! πŸ₯‹

What a great turnout for our first Club Championships at Greater Beveridge Community Centre on Saturday.

All of the Moreland Shotokan members came together with a total of 75 competitors in 28 divisions.

I would like to thank Shihan Gery, SKIA President Jeremy de Vos and Sensei Paul for attending and helping us run the tournament successfully.

Also to my Tullamarine students Sempei Yasmine Athaide, Sienna, Chris, Adrian Portelli for judging the events.
