🌟 Dance Sharing Day at SMBG 🌟
What a wonderful celebration of dance across our School community!
On Tuesday, as part of our Co-Curricular Dance Program, students proudly presented a showcase of the work they have been developing throughout Semester One.
Performing to a large and appreciative audience, our dancers demonstrated creativity, confidence, teamwork and a genuine love of dance.
Adding to the excitement of the day, our Year 9 Dance Elective students led a special dance workshop for our Year 1 students, exploring movement, creativity and how our bodies communicate through dance. It was fantastic to see students learning from one another and sharing their passion for the performing arts.
Meanwhile, preparations are continuing for our upcoming 100 Years of Dance - The 2026 Dance Extravaganza, with rehearsals well underway for what promises to be a spectacular celebration of dance at SMBG.
Dance is thriving at SMBG, and we are incredibly proud of all the students, staff and families who support our vibrant dance community. 💃🕺✨

Yesterday, French students from Years 9–12 had the pleasure of participating in a Djembe African Drumming workshop.
Students learned about French-speaking countries in Africa and the history of the French language on the continent since the colonial period. They also practised their French while learning West African dance moves and how to play the djembe, a traditional West African drum.
The high-energy and engaging workshop was great fun, providing a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultures of French-speaking Africa, which is home to the largest population of French speakers in the world.

To celebrate their study of Romeo and Juliet at Berwick Campus, Year 9 students completed a creative project inspired by Shakespeare’s most famous play.
Their responses ranged from written pieces such as poems, letters, diary entries and even a choose-your-own-adventure story, to performances including dance and games. Students also showcased their creativity through visual artworks in pencil, paint and clay, as well as constructed pieces such as dioramas, cakes and costumes.
This project provided a wonderful opportunity for every student to explore their interests and showcase their unique talents. Family and friends were amazed by the creativity, effort and exceptional quality of the finished works.
