The Smile Squad team from Monash Health will be visiting your school this term.
Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program. This means all students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

⭐️ SECOND IN AUSTRALIA ⭐️

Congratulations to Year 6 student, Erin Stack who travelled to Adelaide for the Australian Irish Dancing Championships over the school holidays.

Erin competed against the best of the best across the country in three beautiful rounds. She was awarded runners up champion in the Minor Girls 10 years!

A huge achievement and recognition for the hard work, time and dedication she puts in. We are so proud of you Erin! ☘️

🥈 Congratulations to our Year 8 student Liam Riky! 🥈

On Friday night, Liam represented Timbarra in the 1500m at the Athletics Victoria All Schools Championship at Lakeside Stadium. Competing against students from schools across the state, Liam raced brilliantly to finish second in Victoria, taking home the silver medal! 👏

With only the top two athletes in each event qualifying for the National All Schools Championships, Liam will now head to Perth in December to represent Timbarra and Victoria! 🌟

This fantastic achievement reflects Liam’s hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of you, Liam, and look forward to cheering you on at Nationals! 🏃‍♂️

GRADE THREE

This Term the Year 3 students completed their Inquiry unit called ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’.

Throughout the unit, they learned all about the life cycles of plants and animals and the similarities and differences between parents and offspring at different stages of growth.

In small groups, each team researched and wrote an information report about their selected animal which they displayed as a poster.
Each group then created diorama that included their animal, elements of its life cycle and its environment.

Well done on a terrific unit of work Year Three’s, what amazing team work!

YEAR NINE CITY EXPERIENCE

Our Year 9 students have had an action-packed few days in Melbourne on their City Experience Camp!
On Tuesday, they explored Docklands, visiting ArtVo, the Medibank Icehouse, Archie Brothers Arcade and Prison Island Escape Room — a day full of creativity, skating, and games! 🎨⛸️🎮🤔
Wednesday we split off into three groups and spent the day Rock climbing, bowling, playing laser tag and visiting the Shrine 🧗‍♀️🎳🔫🌅
That evening, we cruised down the Yarra River, with a DJ keeping the dance floor full all night — and yes, some unforgettable dance moves were on display! 🕺⛴️
This morning, we wrapped up with a visit to the Queen Victoria Market and the students took on an Amazing Race challenge, racing around the city to complete tasks and solve clues. 📸🌇
We then made one final stop at Melbourne Central to catch the train home. 👑🔐🚂
Throughout the camp, our students represented the school beautifully — their behaviour was excellent and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
One more sleep ‘til the holidays! 😴

PREP INCURSION

Responsible pet ownership incursion- 🐕
Our foundation students had a great time learning about responsible pet ownership and how to interact with them properly.
They practiced how to greet dogs, recognise their body language and what to do when meeting an unfamiliar dog. A special visit from a 4 legged friend (Flayme) made for a memorable learning experience! 🐾

We had 12 athletes compete in the Casey North Division event today. They all did Timbarra proud. Yemaya came 2nd in Shot Put and 100m and will compete in the Southern Region event next termp

⭐️ ARTIST OF THE WEEK ⭐️

Congratulations to this week's Artist of the Week, Josh! Josh has shown outstanding effort, creativity and technical skill by thoughtfully combining original photography and detailed hand-drawn elements. His careful composition and strong visual storytelling have resulted in an impressive and highly original triptych. Well done, Josh!

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK

During National Science Week, our students at Timbarra P–9 took part in multiple engaging hands-on activities. Our Year 7 students participated in a space parachute project in which they had to build a device to safely transport eggs as part of the challenge.
At the same time, our students created science-themed comic strips. Inspired by the graphic novel The Friendship Paradox, students were challenged to tell a short story that explains or explores a scientific concept through the comic strip format. Whether it was the water cycle, gravity, electricity, animal adaptations, space, or another exciting science idea, we couldn’t wait to see their creativity come to life. Congratulations to the winners of the competition.

Our STEM Academy at Timbarra P–9 embarked on a STEM greenhouse micro:bit project through the National Science Week grant. Students began by developing their own inquiry questions, ranging from “How long does it take for lettuce and cauliflower to sprout under optimal conditions?” to “How does the amount of water affect the growth of sunflowers?” They then used micro:bits to control the water and soil conditions in their experiments. It was great to see students’ engagement as they planned and designed their investigations, including formulating an aim, hypothesis, variables, results, discussion, and conclusion for their projects.
