Consistent daily attendance at school is crucial for all students, with exceptions made for illness. The Department of Education is implementing stricter procedures for recording and documenting student absences. Should your child require an extended absence, such as for a family holiday, it is necessary to obtain prior approval from the principal. If you need to collect your child early from school, for instance, for an appointment, you will be required to provide a reason when signing your child out.

Our planning week for teachers starts this Friday and wraps up on Thursday, June 25th. During this time, each teaching team will spend a whole day planning together for Term 3's teaching and learning program. While our teachers are busy planning, our specialist and replacement teachers will be covering their classes. We know our students are in for some awesome learning experiences next term.

It may look quiet around the school today with no students onsiteβ¦ but behind the classroom doors, there is still plenty happening! ππ»
Our teachers are busy working away on student reports, professional learning and planning to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child across the school.
Days like today are an important opportunity for staff to reflect on student growth, prepare future learning experiences and continue building their own professional knowledge and skills.
While the classrooms may be quieter than usual, there is still a lot of teamwork, collaboration, coffee and keyboard tapping happening behind the scenes! ββ¨οΈ

Physical activity plays such an important role in supporting childrenβs health, wellbeing and learning; both at school and at home.
Regular physical activity helps children to:
β’ Build strong bodies and healthy habits
β’ Improve focus and concentration in the classroom
β’ Develop teamwork and social skills
β’ Support positive mental health and wellbeing
β’ Build confidence, resilience and independence
Whether itβs running, riding bikes, playing sport, dancing, climbing at the playground or simply playing outside, every bit of movement counts.
At Berwick Lodge Primary School, we encourage students to stay active through PE, sport and outdoor play throughout the day. We also encourage families to support active lifestyles at home wherever possible. βΊοΈ
π· One giant leap for student-kind.

We are very proud of our school grounds and the wonderful environment our students learn and play in each day.
To keep our spaces clean, we ask our students to:
ποΈ Place rubbish in the bins
π§ Pick up lunch wrappers
π± Respect garden areas and outdoor spaces
π Take belongings home at the end of the day
Small actions make a big difference and help create a clean, safe and welcoming environment for everyone in our community.

Did you know that drinking water throughout the day helps children stay focused, energised and ready to learn?
At Berwick Lodge Primary School, we actively encourage students to bring a drink bottle to class each day and to drink water regularly throughout their learning sessions. Especially during busy days of learning, sport and play, staying hydrated is incredibly important.

Over the past few weeks, our Grade 5/6 students have taken part in the Stand-Up Project, an important wellbeing and anti-bullying initiative.
The project began with a special incursion for all Grade 5/6 students, where they explored respectful behaviour, inclusion, empathy, resilience and the importance of standing up against bullying. Following the incursion, around 20 students were selected as Stand-Up Leaders and ambassadors for the program.
Last week, our Stand-Up Leaders proudly presented their learning to teachers. Tonight after school, they also shared their presentations with parents and families.
This is an exciting first step in the project. Over time, the Stand-Up Leaders will work together to create their own lessons and activities to share with younger students across the school. Through this, they will help promote positive relationships, respectful behaviour and a strong sense of belonging within our community.
We are incredibly proud of the maturity, leadership and confidence our students demonstrated throughout the presentations. They represented our school positively and showed a genuine commitment to helping make our school a safe, respectful and supportive place for everyone.
A huge thank you to Ms Maskery and Mr Pryor, the driving forces behind this initiative, along with the teachers and families who have supported the program and encouraged our students along the way.
