Zones help you work with your energy, not against it!

Permaculture Zones place high-maintenance elements closest to your home so you save time and steps.

Here is the quick breakdown:
Zone 0: Home | The center of daily life.
Zone 1: Kitchen Garden | Herbs, salad greens & quick-turn compost (daily visits).
Zone 2: Semi-Intensive | Chickens, small orchards & berry bushes.
Zone 3: Main Crops | Pastures, grain fields & large orchards.
Zone 4: Semi-Wild | Foraging, timber & firewood harvest.
Zone 5: Wilderness | Untouched nature for wildlife & observation.

Rule of thumb: If you need it every day, put it by the back door!
What’s currently growing in your Zone 1?

Most people see retirement as the dream.

No alarm clock. No boss. No work.

But for a lot of Aussie men who spent 40 or 50 years as tradies, mechanics, farmers and workers, retirement came with a weird problem nobody really talked about.

Suddenly nobody needed them.

That’s where Men’s Sheds came in.

Across Australia, retired blokes started gathering in community workshops to do what they’d always done: build things, fix things and give someone a hand.

They repair bikes for kids, restore furniture, make toys, build community projects and help charities. But somewhere between the sawdust, cups of tea and arguing about the correct way to sharpen a drill bit, something else happened.

The blokes started looking after each other too.

Because a lot of men aren’t great at sitting in a circle saying “let’s talk about our feelings”.

But give them a broken chair, a workbench and another bloke standing next to them, and suddenly they’ll tell you everything.

Men’s Sheds basically discovered something very Australian:

Sometimes the easiest way to ask someone if they’re okay is:

“Can you give us a hand with this?”

Traditionally gardening and composting has been an older persons game - but we've seen since it shifting ourselves over the past 7-8 years to a younger cohort. Love this ..

The tenets of permaculture are attracting a new generation of home gardeners. It's perhaps no surprise, considering the movement has firm roots in the world's last oil crisis in the 1970s.
