The Berry Public School community has

a culture of care, respect and enrichment which we would like to translate into our online community. We welcome questions and comments from everyone, and ask that you observe the "dinner party" rules of conversation:
by all means have your opinion- it doesn't have to be the same as anyone elses, but no swearing, bullying or criticism of other individuals please. And as with a dinner party, if you are blatantly advertising your own commercial business, we'll all get very bored, very quickly and have to show you the door.

✨🥇Spirit of Tournament Award 🥇✨

How amazing is it that, following on from our 2026 teams outstanding results, three of our students from TOM 2025 (now in Yr 7) were recognised with the "Spirit of Tournament Award"! 🥳🎉

Lily, Penny and Lucy were a part of our TOM team that made it all the way to internationals last year!! We are so proud that even though their school doesn't enter a team, they dedicated their time to helping coach our teams and volunteering over the weekend to help the event run smoothly. 👏🏻

🌟South Coast Winners!🌟

What a day for our incredible Berry Public School Tournament of Minds teams!

Both our Language & Literature and Social Sciences teams competed at the University of Wollongong yesterday, with our Language & Literature team taking out FIRST PLACE and progressing to the State Finals! 🎉💪🏻

After five weeks of tireless work during breaks and outside school hours, both teams represented our school with creativity, determination and pride. We couldn’t be prouder! 💙

A huge ✨CONGRATULATIONS✨ to our fabulous TOMs!

And to our Language & Literature team — we wish you all the very best as you head to UNSW in Sydney in three weeks to take on the State Finals. Go TOMs! 🚀🏆

💚 Pyjamas for Project Platypus! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser on Friday!

We were absolutely blown away by the incredible generosity of our school community, from the amazing bake sale donations to every gold coin donation, sweet treat purchased and pair of pyjamas worn.

Thanks to your generosity, we far exceeded our fundraising goal! We are so grateful for everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful success.

All proceeds from the day will go directly to Project Platypus. 💚

💚 PYJAMAS FOR PROJECT PLATYPUS! 💚

Get comfy and help make a difference! This Friday (Tomorrow!), 21 August, we’re holding a M***i Day Fundraiser to raise funds for the Project Platypus program and platypus conservation. 🌿

💤 Dress: Pyjamas or comfy clothes
👟 Shoes: Safe, enclosed shoes suitable for school
🪙 Bring: A gold coin donation
☕🍪 Plus: Bring some extra money to grab a delicious hot chocolate or sweet treat from our Bake Sale!

Every donation helps support Project Platypus and gives students the opportunity to get involved in real environmental science and conservation. 💚

📚 Technically Book Week is next week... but NOT at Berry! 📚

We always opt to celebrate Book Week after our amazing Open Day showcase! ✨

This year we are going to be celebrating on the last Wednesday of term (23rd of September). So don't panic! Plenty of time to decide on a costume.

Some of our most popular books borrowed this year have been the "I Survived" series, Baby Sitters Club, Lottie Brooks, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Wolf Girl. Plenty of amazing inspirational characters! 🥰

We cannot wait to see your outfits, remember that lots of costumes can be made from clothes in your wardrobe! 👖🧢🩳👕👚🧥

We had a little surprise today when a ringtail possum was found at school! 🐾💚

To keep our furry visitor warm and safe, it was carefully wrapped up in Lucas’ jumper, before Mr Willetts took on the very important role of official Possum Sitter. 🥰 Meanwhile, Mrs Felton contacted Wildlife Rescue South Coast to arrange for our new little friend to be collected.

The possum will receive a health check before being safely relocated to a more suitable home. 🌳

A big thank you to everyone who helped keep our unexpected visitor safe — and especially to Lucas for sacrificing his jumper for the cause! 😂💚

👩🏼‍🏫🧠 Be The Teacher 🧠🧑🏼‍🏫

Part of the Stage 2 program is each student takes a turn as being the teacher.

Their goal is to teach about something they know and for others to do an activity related to that.

We have had some wonderful lesson so far from netball skills to science experiments to cake decoration and jewellery design. 🎂💍

We look forward to the rest of the lesson over the term. 👏🏻

Regional Spelling Bee.

This week, Lucy (Berry PS Junior Champion) and Ayla (Berry PS Senior Champion) competed in the Regional Spelling Bee via Zoom.

Both girls did an amazing job even getting to the event.

Competing against the top spellers from a random selection of the best 30 spellers from all over the State, the girls spelt their hearts out.

Unfortunately, both were knocked out before the final round.

Great work on your achievement girls.

🎉🏆 World Champion! 🏆 🎉

✨ Congratulations to Vincent ✨ who was runner-up in the Under 9s Golf World Titles held in Northern Ireland a few weeks ago. An Amazing achievement! 👏🏻

This is an invitation only event. After 3 days of competition, Vincent was ahead with one hole left to play. He said he ‘chunked’ a shot chipping for the green, which ‘was a 1% chance of occurring’, and it cost him the win. 🫣

Mr Willetts will see you soon for a few tips. ⛳🏌🏻‍♀️
