Easter fine motor egg 🐣

Easter is fast approaching. So many fun things that you can do around this time of year.

We loved making these fine motor eggs in class and can’t wait to hang them on our windows.

What do you need:
🐣 Card (coloured or even an old cardboard box)
🐣 Scissors
🐣 Clear contact paper
🐣 Coloured Texta or sharpie
🐣 Fine motor materials (beads, Pom poms, googly eyes, coloured pasta, coloured chickpeas)

How do you make it?
⭐️ Draw an egg shape on your card and cut it out (adults may have to do this for our wee ones as this can be a little tricky)
⭐️ Cut a rectangle shape of clear contact and attach to the card
⭐️ Draw a range of lines on the clear contact sticky side
⭐️ Let your little one get creative and place a range of fine motor objects on the lines to create their egg design.
⭐️ Once finished hang up in your window for an an amazing Easter window.

📸 Post your creations and tag me in your posts, I’d love to see what you create

⭐️toilet roll tube
⭐️leaves/twigs
⭐️masking tape

What to do:
⭐️Draw eyes, nose and whiskers on your toilet roll tube
⭐️Let your little ones creativity go wild and let them paint any colours they like on the tube
⭐️Once dry go on a garden hunt and find some things to use as bunny ears.
⭐️Stuck the ears on by securing your garden treasures with masking tape on the inside of the tube

Fruit
Water
Ice cube tray
Jug

Practical Life Skills developed:
⭐️ cutting using a real knife (parent supervision required)
⭐️ pouring - controlling the amount of water going into the ice cube mould.

STEM skills:

⭐️ counting - to make sure there correct number of pieces of fruit are in each ice cube
⭐️ freezing and melting
- What do you think will happen? - What happens to the ice cubes once they have been in the freezer? - What happens to the ice cubes when we put them in our glass of water?

What fruit would you put in your ice cubes?

Hello everyone! I thought it was time to introduce the face behind this page.

My name is Sarah and I am an early childhood educator in the Northern Territory, Australia. I completed my training in Scotland, at the University of Dundee, and in 2011 I moved to Australia.

The idea of ‘wee bairns learning’ came to me whilst I was on maternity leave with my second little boy. As an early years teacher I have always loved watching children learn through play, but whilst on maternity leave it became even more apparent the importance of play based learning.

This page is about helping your child to develop and progress by engaging in fun, exciting and stimulating activities. Your child won’t even know they are learning and developing their skills, because to them it is just play. This is how all learning should be.

Thank you for following along on this journey with me. Sarah x
