CONNECTION IS THE CHOREOGRAPHY // 🤝💛

You can teach the steps in the studio. But this? This is what happens when the steps actually land.

Our dancers took their moves from the studio floor straight to community day, turf and tents and a crowd of new faces, and they didn't miss a beat.

That's not luck. That's what happens when kids trust the person guiding them and trust each other to get it right together.

The song says "you can count on me" and honestly, that's the whole point of what we teach here. Not perfect arms. Not perfect timing. Just showing up for each other.

DANCING IS SCARY UNTIL YOU FIND THE RIGHT PLACE TO GROW // 🌱💛

Walking into a dance class as an adult takes guts. There's no hiding at the back when you're worried about looking silly in front of a mirror full of strangers.

But that fear fades fast when you're in a room that isn't about being the best, it's about showing up and having a go.

No judgement here. No comparing yourself to the person next to you. Just adults reconnecting with movement, building confidence and having a proper laugh while they're at it.

This is exactly why we started our adult classes. Dance isn't just for kids, it's for anyone who wants to feel a bit more joy in their week.

YOUR CHILD IS LOOKING FOR YOU // 👀🩰

They're scanning the audience for your face.

Make sure they can find you.

During the performance, dancers often look out to find someone familiar watching, smiling, and cheering them on.

Phones held above heads can block the view for others and pull a performer's focus right when they need it most.

Keep your phone down during their routine. Be present. That moment on stage is for them.

There will be plenty of time for photos before or after the show.

Give your dancer the one thing they're looking for: you, fully there.

IF YOU WAIT TO BE PERFECT, YOU MAY NEVER START // 🌟💛

Look at these little superstars going for it, arms up, squats wobbly, muscles flexed like they own the room. Nobody in this room is worried about getting it exactly right.

That's kind of the whole point though. Excellence isn't something you arrive at before you begin, it's something that builds while you're in it, star marker by star marker, class by class.

Same goes for the grown ups watching from the sidelines wondering if they're "too old" or "too uncoordinated" to try. You're not behind. You just haven't started yet.

WHAT TO PACK FOR CONCERT DAY // 🎒✨

Concert day always feels like it sneaks up, even when you've had the date circled for months. Between costumes, hair, shoes and snacks, it's easy to forget something small that ends up being the thing you need most backstage.

Here's what actually helps on the day.

Start with the costume list provided by BPA and check every piece, shoe and accessory before you leave home. Bring the correct hair supplies, plus spare pins and hair ties for quick changes. Pack water and suitable snacks if they're permitted backstage, and steer clear of anything messy near costumes. Label personal items clearly, dressing rooms get busy and unlabelled things are hard to return. And leave valuables at home. Your dancer only needs what they genuinely need for the day.

A prepared bag makes the whole day easier, for your dancer and for the backstage team looking after them.

JUST A LITTLE JOY IN A BIG COLORFUL WORLD // 🌈✨

Ball pits, dinosaurs, tutus and a banana suited instructor leading the charge, this is what a good day looks like around here. Before the choreography and the confidence and the big stage moments, there's just this. Kids being kids, finding joy in whatever's in front of them, whether that's a pile of plastic balls or a dance floor.

That's the bit we never want to lose sight of. Ready Set Dance isn't about getting it right straight away. It's about showing up, having a go, and laughing while you do it. The rest comes later.

5, 6, 7, 8... AND APPARENTLY NO SPEAKER NEEDED // 🎶👏

No music, no problem. These dancers made their own beat with claps, stomps and pure timing, and honestly it slaps just as hard without a speaker in sight.

This is the stuff that doesn't show up on a report card. Counting under pressure, staying locked in with the group, trusting your own rhythm when there's nothing to follow but each other. That's what we're building in every class at BPA Dance Studio.

THIS IS WHY WE DANCE // 💛✨

Not just steps. Not just routines.

It's the toddler who finally sits still for the whole song because she's so locked in with her instructor.

It's the girls in their pjs, disco ball spinning, laughing so hard they forget they're "performing" at all.

It's the quiet kind of growth too, the listening, the patience, the little moments of discipline that turn into big moments of confidence on stage.

Every class is building something. Confidence. Friendships. Memories they'll carry long after they've outgrown the leotard.

SUPERHERO TRAINING, DANCE EDITION // 🦸‍♀️✨

Capes on, star markers found, and the room is full of tiny superheroes learning their next big move. Air punches on the beat, spins that get a little wobblier every time they get faster, and not one single kid worried about getting it perfect.

This is what Ready Set Dance is all about. Big imagination, real coordination building underneath it, and a teacher right there in a cape too, dancing every count alongside them instead of just calling it out from the front.

Some days the theme is superheroes. Some days it's something else entirely. What stays the same is a room where showing up and having a go is the whole point.
